Once Upon a Time March 5 – 9

Dear Parents,

Last week we learned the letter “Qq” and talked about healthy ways to take care of our teeth and bodies.

This week we will learn a new letter “Rr”, new number 7 and new color green.  We will also talk about reading and how important it is.

We will be going outside again now that the weather is getting nicer, please bring in the appropriate clothing for your child to go outside.

We will be having a green snack on Friday, March 16th.  There will be a sign up sheet on the clip board on Friday.

The Parent/Teacher conferences will be on Monday and Tuesday the 19th and 20th.  There will not be school on those days.  There will be a sign up sheet on the clipboard on Tuesday.  I can only hold parent/teacher conferences with the parent or guardian.

With March being reading month, we would like the children to bring in their favorite book to share with the class:  Wednesday, March 7     Addison

Dental and Healthy Living Feb 26 – Mar 2

Dear Parents,

Welcome back!

This week we will learn a new letter “Qq”, continue with number 6 and the color pink.  We will also talk about healthy ways to take care of our teeth and bodies.

We will be going outside again now that the weather is getting nicer, please bring in the appropriate clothing for your child to go outside.

We will be having a green snack on Friday, March 16th.  There will be a sign up sheet when the date gets closer.

I am thinking of having parent conferences on a Monday or Tuesday.  It would be during school hours, 8:00am – 12:00noon.  Please let one of us know, what day works better for you. I’m thinking maybe the week of March 19th.

Feb 12 – 16 Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year

Dear Parents,

Last week we talked about the Winter Olympics.  We also learned the letter “Pp”, number 6 and the color pink.

This week we will continue with the number 6 and the color pink.  With so many of our friends out sick, even Ms. Maria, we will have a new letter next week.  We will also talk about Mardi Gras, have a valentine party and talk about the year of the dog.

There will be no school the week of February 19 – 23 for winter break.

Winter Olympics February 5 – 9

Dear Parents,

Last week we learned a new letter “Oo” continued with the color white and number 5.  We also talked about the circus, animals that hibernate and groundhogs.  The children predicted that the groundhog was going to see its shadow.  They were right!  Ugh, 6 more weeks of winter!  They also predicted that the New England Patriots were going to win the super bowl.  They were wrong on that one….Go Eagles!

This week we will learn a new letter “Pp”, new number 6 and new color pink.  We will also talk about the winter Olympics.

Our Valentine’s party will be on Wednesday, February 14th.  There are 18 children in the class.  Your child can bring in valentines and/or a treat to pass to their friends.  Your child can write their name on the valentine’s but please don’t put a name for who the valentines are going to.  The sign up sheet will be on the clip board.

There will be no school the week of February 19th, for winter break.

January 29 – February 2 Circus and Hibernation

Dear Parents,

Last week we learned a new letter “Nn” continued with number 5 and the color white.  We also talked about arctic animals.

This week we will learn a new letter “Oo” continue with the number 5 and the color white.  We will also talk about the circus and what animals like to hibernate.

February homework:  A heart will be coming home for you to decorate with whatever you choose and return to school so your child can share with their friends.

Friday, February 2: For a hibernation activity, please allow your child to bring in a small stuffed animal,(small enough to fit into a lunch bag).  Please have the animals labeled with your child’s name on it.

Our Valentine’s Party will be on Wednesday, February 14th.  There are 18 children in the class.  Your child can write their name on the valentine’s but please don’t put a name for To:. There will a sign – sheet when the party gets closer.

Week of January 22 – 26 Arctic Animals

Dear Parents,

Last week we reviewed our letters, number 5 and the color white.  We also talked about Martin Luther King, Benjamin Franklin and more wintery things.

This week we will learn a new number “Nn” continue with the number 5 and the color white.  We will also be talking about arctic animals.

Ms. Maria will be helping in the classroom.  She is the classroom teacher in the afternoon and she brings lots of interesting and fun ideas to our classroom.

This week is spirit week at Haigh Elementary.

Week of Jan 15 – 19 Let It Snow

Dear Parents,

Sorry about not having a newsletter last week, where did the week go?

Last week we learned the letter “Mm”, number 5 and the color white.  We also talked about winter and Abraham Lincoln.

This week we will review our letters, number 5 and the color white.  We will also talk about Martin Luther King, Benjamin Franklin and more winter fun.

Please bring in an extra pair of shoes or slippers.  Our classroom gets very wet and sloppy with the snow from outside.
