Week of March 23rd
Even though I already posted this on Class Dojo, I wanted to make sure that we had access here on my blog as well in case Class Dojo ever has connectivity errors (which could happen with an influx of people now using the site for online learning).
We made it through your first week of online learning! Some adjustments have been made to our weekly schedule now that I can see what is working and what is not. Here’s a short breakdown of our schedule:
Math:
Continue completing the workbook pages and Zearn. I’m hoping students can get through 4-5 lessons per week (a lesson a day).
Writing:
Students will be typing up their space stories and turning them in Wednesday. They will use their organizers to make a full story. Thursday and Friday will be spent making thank you letters for our medical professionals who are diligently working still.
Reading:
Continue using Epic as a great way to read books. Also use Edmentum (on clever-the “e”) to go through reading and language lessons.
Science:
Included during our creative time, use the links to watch lessons on Mystery Science. Then, complete the extra hands on activities included if you have the time, these are FUN!
Please make sure students are getting on daily and not trying to cram all of this into one day.
It was so great to see many of you yesterday during our Teacher Parade through the neighborhood. I miss you dearly! I have my fingers crossed that we will be back together in the classroom soon!
Week of March 16th
Good morning and welcome to our first week of remote (online) learning. For the next three weeks we will be conducting class from home. Routines are crucial for children, so I have included a schedule at the end of this post for the week. Our daily school schedule includes academic time as well as recess, lunch, and time for specials. This schedule is just a suggestion. I have 3 children in school myself who will all now be taught at home with 3 different curriculums, so I do understand that time has to be managed between the electronics for all of your children. I miss you all already!
Also, please watch Class Dojo closely as I know our specials teachers will be performing class time online as well. This includes music, gym, media, enrichment, and art.
I will be monitoring students’ progress online every day and I will contact through Class Dojo with any concerns. If you have any questions regarding what is expected or need help logging into any of our online platforms, please send me a Class Dojo message. This will yield the quickest response.
COVID-19 and Online Learning
Due to the pandemic corona-virus going around many things are changing at school. School will not be in session again until April 13th. I have posted the work for students on Class Dojo, but I am also posting them here to make sure that all have access to them.

Week of March 2nd
It is that time of year again, March is Reading month! Throughout the month of March we will celebrate reading in many different ways including: assemblies, guest readers, and literacy night. If you would like to come in and be a guest reader for our class (they love when family surprises us by coming in to read!) please just send me a message on Class Dojo and we will find a time/day that works well. Here are a few important dates to keep in mind.
-March 2nd is the very beginning of March is Reading month. We will celebrate with a kick off assembly. Our theme for this year is “Reading is Out of this World.” This same day after school the superintendent will be joining us at McDonald to answer any questions and have conversation with the community. This is a great opportunity to chat with him if you have any questions or would just like to hear more about our school district. He will be available at McDonald at 5:30 in the auditorium. All are welcome to attend.
-Thursday, March 5th, DTE will be coming in for a presentation with our 3rd-5th graders.
-On Friday, March 6th we will have an assembly by Michigander Doug Scheer.
-Monday, March 9th will be literacy night from 5:00-6:15. There will be many different space-themed literacy activities for the whole family to do!
Because of the snow days last week we will continue with the same grammar and spelling words for this week.
Also, in case you missed it, our 3rd graders did an AMAZING job at their choir concert on Friday at McDonald. They then traveled to Fordson High School and got to perform with the National Arab Orchestra. Check Class Dojo for pictures, this was such an awesome opportunity and something I’m sure they’ll never forget!
