The students have worked very hard this week to get enough points on Class Dojo to earn a technology day. This will be next week (more details to follow). I hope you all enjoy the extra time with your family this weekend!

Starting on Monday, October 9th we will have snack for all the students in the class just like last year. Students do not need to bring a snack in because we only do one snack a day.

For those that missed the parent meeting: We discussed expectations in my classroom. The children will be using their folders and planners everyday and they are expected to transfer them from school to home and back. Also, this year we are using Class Dojo in place of the clip chart system. This is very similar to the clip chart but uses points instead of clipping up or down. I sent home a letter with each student for the parents to be able to login and see how their child is doing. I have had some parents sign up but still have many that have not. If you need a new sheet just send me an email or have your child request one from me. I am more than happy to send home another one. Finally, we have a very late lunch and I would like all students to bring a snack in. We do snack in the middle of the morning. We CANNOT have students share snacks.

A yellow form went home last week about our field trip called Operation School Bell. Because there was some confusion I wanted to clarify. This field trip will be on October 12th. Our students will be getting on a bus and going to Oakman. It will be in the morning and probably will not even take up the entire morning. Lunch and our afternoon will be as usual.

Thank you to all families who came out to open house last night! It was great to meet with all of you. During open house we also signed up for parent teacher conference times. If you did not yet sign up for conferences I will be contacting you in the coming weeks to try to set up a time that works for you. I will also send out reminders the week before conferences to let you know what time slot I have you down for.

We are into our second week of school (and first full week!) I have a few announcements to make.

First, our open house is this Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 6:00-7:30 pm. This will not be a conference about your individual student (that will be in November) but rather a time for families to come see their child’s new classroom and show them around. I look forward to seeing you all there. I know the students will be very excited to show off their new classroom.

Second, please make sure to send your student with a snack each day. We have a very late lunch this year and it is hard for the students to make it without a snack. We usually do our snack about halfway through the morning. This year we have a program that allows each student to get free breakfast and lunch as well.

Third, some students brought home a packet. This packet came from the office and needs to be returned as soon as possible. Only some students received this (the youngest child in the family) so if your child did not don’t be alarmed.

Friday: Music & Gym

Please make sure to have your child wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes on Fridays!
