“Homework” work at home

Everyday the kids have had homework and still do.

1 Practice writing. They should be writing their name(first & last) and drawing pictures and/or coloring.

2 Practice reading. They should be practicing the alphabet, reading environmental print and “reading” stories(describing the pictures).

3 if they do 1 & 2 is to play outside. Be active kids not sitting on electronics. They should be do physical activity. (Walking around the block, riding bikes, going up&down the stairs getting fresh air)

Please keep the students on a routine. This is a basic example of a routine you can use to develop one that works for your family.

I will be posting more specific ideas and activities so keep checking back frequently.

Latest on COVID-19 at School

This is the information from the district.

Hello All,
Here is the information on Whitmore-Bolles that is being shared with the public.
Thanks,
David
++++++++++++++

The State of Michigan announced additional cases of the COVID-19 virus in our state. These new numbers include the staff member from Whitmore-Bolles. The Wayne County Public Health Division has determined that the staff member was NOT contagious while in the building therefore, your child was not exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

Local health departments in Michigan work directly with those who have been identified with the virus to investigate the possibility of any further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The Communicable Disease Unit at Wayne County determines who might have had exposure to those individuals with a positive test and contacts those whom they feel may have had contact.  Wayne County does not test any individuals who do not exhibit symptoms.

Part of their guidelines in determining risk factors include: did the person display symptoms while in contact with others.  Also, proximity and duration with other individuals.

“We appreciate the support and expert guidance we have received from Wayne County in handling this situation,” commented Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Glenn Maleyko.

Crews are completing the cleaning of Whitmore-Bolles on Friday, and since the building will be closed until April 13, 2020 there is no reason to believe that the school will not be ready for staff and students when they return.

For anyone who may have further questions or concerns they can reach out to the Wayne County Public Health Department COVID19 information line at (734) 287-7870.

Playground

The playground is quite muddy on a regular basis. This is why we have asked that the students always have their “snowpants”, they keep them warm when it is cold. They keep them dry and warm when it is snowy. When the weather breaks it keeps them clean and dry until it gets toooo warm to wear them any longer and the playground has dried up, at that time we will tell you that the students no longer need them at school. Here is what we see as of today.

Information needed

With the field trip season coming upon us quickly, we need to verify some information with all the families.

Ihave a list of parent who are allowed to attend trips with the children, which is 1 per family. If the name on my list doesn’t match you and your child will not be allowed to attend. Please check with us (Mr. Liepe or Mrs. Hazamy) to see if the correct adult is on the list. If not you will just have to fill out and sign an additional form for those individuals. If there is another responsible adult that will be attending please get a form for them to file out also.

Sorry but the rules have changed for the protect of the students in Dearborn Public Schools.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Mr. Liepe
