I hope everyone is doing well! I miss you! I see some of the students have registered for the free book accounts. If you haven’t please do so. I will be trying to add a math based account also, so the students can work on those skills interactively. There will also be some additional daily routine items for the students to do to keep them learning and occupied. I have been assigning daily writing, reading, and gross motor activities for the students (1,2,3). In addition to that I have a read aloud and activity to do that I am trying to vary between math and literacy. Today’s story I am reading is “Oopsy, Teacher!” which is a rhyming book. It is from our Epic books classroom account. The link is https://www.getepic.com/students/ to sign your child up to see the stories I am reading. They will also be able to listen to many other books and stories of their choosing. The classroom code is mhe8655 . Also you may have received an email with a link to sign them up. I love seeing the stories the students are reading and the amount of time they are interacting with the books. Today’s activity after listening to the read aloud is to have the children rhyme words of household objects. Also I am adding a new routine item to the children’s daily schedule, it is Plan, Do, Review. I have explained it below and will continue to post it as a reminder.
Share pictures of the activities with me at Liepeb@dearbornschools.org . I am going to starting sharing the photos I receive from the day before so the students can see their work on the web.
I will be linking to a story daily as well as assigning an activity for the students so please try to check Monday – Thursday.
Since this is long term I am going to have everyone add an easy piece to the children’s daily routine, Plan, Do, Review. A couple times a day when the children are going to play start by asking them what their plan is, some examples are; What they will play with? What they are going to do with it? Who they might play with? How hey are going to use it? Then when they are done ask them to recall. Have them tell you details of the play activity they did.

This is important information that the district needs for our state education plan. Please take a minute and fill it out.

Today’s story is from Epic books through our classroom account. The link is https://www.getepic.com/students/ to sign your child up to see the stories I am reading and they will also be able to listen to many other books and stories of their choosing. The classroom code is mhe8655 . Also you may have received an email with a link to sign them up. After listening to this quick story there is an activity at the end for the children to do. Please use what you have at the house to complete it, it doesn’t have to be as described in the book.
In this rhyming story there are animals on every page. As the children are going through have them count all the animals on each page. Remind them that there are more animals than just the sheep. Then remember to do the final activity and share it with me at Liepeb@dearbornschools.org . I am goig to starting sharing the photos I receive from the day before so the students can see their work on the web.

The district is asking that each family fill out this remote learning survey. Please complete it asap for our learning plan for the state. https://forms.gle/bf86yPtpcneCDUj89

After listening to today’s story on Epic Books you need to write a story about what you did over the Spring Break. Remember you are the Author and Illustrator of your story. So you are doing the picture and “writing the ABC words” for your story.
The story today and until I can figure out how to record readings of books on the computer will be from Epic books through our classroom account. The link is https://www.getepic.com/ for books I will be linking for the children to listen to at home. Sign your child up to see the stories I am linking for them to listen too. They will also be able to listen to many other books and stories of their choosing. The class code is mhe8655. We are thinking spring, so listen to this story for free with the account you create. https://www.getepic.com/app/read/67014 This change is do to the copyright laws that are violated if I record the reading of printed books for the children.
I will be linking to a story daily as well as assigning an activity for the students so please try to check Monday – Thursday.

Yesterday’s shout out is to Lyla! She found all the items and sent me the picture of her time and completed list. (liepeb@dearbornschools.org) Who is it going to be today?
Here is the link for lots of books the students can “read” and listen to. I made an account for myself so I can hopefully do my read alouds from here. https://www.getepic.com/ The class code is mhe8655. Sign your child up and I should be able to see what stories they are reading to see what the students interests are.

It was so nice to hear from everyone yesterday and find out you are all doing well. Keep up the good work and stay safe. Today we are going to listen to if you give a pig a pancake. It’s about a silly little pig that gets distracted by different things around the house. Just like in the story you are going to find things around the house in another scavenger hunt. Yesterday Hudson was the winner finding all the items the quickest and send me the picture of his time and completed list. (liepeb@dearbornschools.org)
Today after reading and listening to the story you will get to do another hunt. Make sure you are counting the items for practice. Please time them and send a picture of their time and completed sheet. Let’s see who can get the best time and I will post another shout out!

I will be making phone calls over the next week, so please answer your phone from an unknown number. It will probably be me!
Looking forward to talking to each of soon!
Here are a couple books read by the Authors themselves. And another fun read aloud to keep them engaged over the weekend. Do one each day or all 3 each day.
Today we are going to do some listening to reading. I am going to read Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? After that listen to one or all of the stories read by the district staff. For your writing today please look out the window and make a story of what you see. Remember you are the Author and Illustrator of your story. So you are doing the picture and “writing the ABC words” for your story.
I am also sharing a link for some more fun movement activities that we did at school. www.cosmickids.com If the link doesn’t work you can just search for Cosmic Kids Yoga. There are quite a few good videos that the students can do in there own ways.
Make sure you go to the Cotter iblog and subscribe to get updates from Mrs. Modica and the program. Here is the post from Wednesday with lots of district staff reading for March is Reading Month.
