Coronavirus (COVID-19)

TO MY KIDS:

With the unexpected events that have occurred the last few days, please try to remain calm. Although, we are not attending school, there will be instruction and homework assessments during this time, please check your emails daily for further instruction. I will be posting homework assignments during school days. It is your duty as a student to check this daily. These assignments will be sent via email, unless stated otherwise with due dates and instructions. If you DO NOT submit the assignment by the due date, communication with your parents WILL take place. The school district and myself do not want you to go for three weeks without instruction. This will be a great time to work on time management skills, prioritizing and trying different ways to study for upcoming summative and formative assessments.

Please take the following precautions to stay safe and healthy:

Wash your hands (remember your handwashing PSA)!

Avoid Close Contact

Use proper precautions when sneezing and coughing (elbow)

Avoid shaking hands

Clean and disinfect

Stay home if you are sick

I look forward to seeing all of you on April 13th. I can’t wait to come back and be so proud of all of you for how mature and responsible you have handled this situation. YOU ALL ROCK!

Semester 2! Allied Health

We will be focusing on Professional appearance, characteristics, how to communicate in healthcare, communication barriers, team work and cultural diversity in healthcare.

After Chapter 4 we will dive right into Cultural diversity and how important it is to understand different cultures in healthcare.

Welcome to Michael Berry Career Center and Allied Health with Mrs. Lang!

I am excited to meet each and every one of you this week! This year is an exciting year for me as it will be my first full year of teaching at MBCC. I know that we will have a full year of fun, learning and really getting to understand what the medical field is all about! Your prior knowledge and education here at Michael Berry will help prepare you in furthering your education and career in healthcare.

Students, please note you will need a folder, notebook, composition or separate notebook(80-100 pages) for bell work and pen or pencil for class.

Each student is advised to subscribe to my iblog as well as the remindapp. I will give you a remind access code on the first day of meeting with you. If you need to contact me, please feel free to email me anytime at langh@dearbornschools.org.

There is a link to the syllabus under class information if students and parents could please read and go over it together. ~ Thank you

American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED

As you all know, you will be learning American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED for my 1/2 hour class and 4/5 hour class.

This will be a blended course, meaning you will be doing engaging and interactive online simulation learning plus in person classroom sessions to learn and practice critical life saving skills for certification.

Important information to know

You must provide proof of completion to me. You can do so in one of the following ways:

  • Print out your online course completion record from the course and show it to me,  It will read “Proceed to Skill Session.”
  • Show the email confirmation you received upon completing the online session to me.
  • Login to your account and show me the completion status that appeared above the “Launch Course” button after you completed the online portion.

You must complete the online portion and provide proof of completion to me to be eligible for certification.

There is a link that you can click on or copy and paste and put into the search bar to create an account.  This link is on ilearn under general course information header. From there, go to the CPR/AED/First Aid Blended Learning instructions. This is where you will find the underlined link to create your account. There is also a link to the textbook. Please take a look at the text book during the break and we will discuss this more on Monday about due dates and check off dates.

Choose to be someone extraordinary!

“Where you are is a result of who you were, but where you go depends entirely on who you choose to be.” -Hal Elrod

We all have a choice. Choose to be the best you. I know that each and everyone of you are capable of achieving anything you want. You have to want it, you have to set goals to achieve it, and most importantly, you have to believe it.
