PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We practiced counting and number recognition by measuring the length of Easter themed images: bunny, basket, egg, chick
  • The students used plastic eggs filled with marbles to paint an Easter egg
  • On Tuesday we went swimming at Hype! We had so much fun in the water, fountains, and on the slides
  • We went on a letter hunt in our sensory bin
  • The class conducted a science experiment to see how clouds make rain
  • We read a story called “Going on an Egg Hunt” and practiced color recognition
  • The students sorted jelly beans by color
  • We dyed Easter eggs with shaving cream and food coloring

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “Q” songs and reading books about things that start with the letter “Q.” The students completed their letter “Q” book page by adding question marks
  • Our core vocab word of the week was “go.” We read stories with the word and completed activities such as going through a tunnel while cheering on our friends (“Go! Go! Go!”), playing peek-a-boo and asking “Where did _____ go?” and by reading a story about a bunny on the go and making the bunny go through the scenes on the page
  • Tuesday was the first day of spring so we read a book about things we can see in the spring and charted the first signs of spring
  • The students made rainbows out of colored pasta with Ms. Staci, Mr. Aaron, Mrs. Gallery, and Ms. Melanie
  • The kindergarteners went on a letter hunt. They searched through the grass in our sensory bin for letters, matched them with the letter on a worksheet and then practiced tracing the letter
  • We practiced counting and number recognition with an interactive Easter Counting book
  • The children had indoor recess with our slide, trampoline, sit n spin, and medicine ball
  • The students made thunderstorm paintings at the easel as we are learning about rain this month
  • We read a story called “Going on an Egg Hunt” and practiced color recognition

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “P” songs and reading books about things that start with the letter “P.” The students completed their letter “P” book page by adding a peacock
  • Our core vocab word of the week was “put.” We read stories with the word and completed activities such as put in and put on. The students put pegs in a jar, put cookies in our counting cookie jar, and put on different hats
  • The students made rainbows with bingo markers. We worked on color recognition during this craft
  • We made get well cards for a student in another class who will be in the hospital for a period of time
  • The children went on a St. Patrick’s Day number hunt. The searched through the bean bin for numbers then matched them to the numbers on our pot of gold
  • We talked about different types of weather and then graphed everyone’s favorite type
  • The children wrote about what they would do if they found a pot of gold. We added our pot of gold writing to our rainbows from earlier in the week and hung them in the hall for everyone to read
  • The students drew in their journals. Some of us practiced tracing shapes and lines

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “O” songs and reading books about things that start with the letter “O.” The students completed their letter “O” book page by adding an octopus
  • Our core vocab words of the week were “want” and “can.” We read stories with the words and completed activities saying “I can do it” and “I want….”
  • The students painted green shamrocks at the easel
  • We measured the length of our feet with bears and cubes
  • The students read an interactive book about the color green and completed a fill in the blank green worksheet
  • We had a practice tornado drill
  • The children colored thank you cards for our Donor Choose donors
  • We went on an alphabet hunt. The students searched for letters in the sensory bin then matched them on a worksheet and on a puzzle
  • On Friday, we celebrated Rayan’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Rayan!!

Friday- Pajama day

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “N” songs and reading books about things that start with the letter “N.” The students completed their letter “N” book page by adding a nest
  • Our core vocab word of the week was “help.” We read stories with the word “help” and talked about things we can help with and made requests such as, “Can you help me?”
  • The students painted pink pigs at the easel to go along with our Three Little Pigs theme
  • We went outside and played on the playground!
  • The students listened to the story “The Three Little Pigs” and then answered the question, “What would you build your house with?”
  • The children drew in their journals
  • We worked on building stamina during read to self time
  • The students practiced recognizing the first letter of their name as well as their classmates’
  • We read a story about animal homes and then the students sorted objects by where they would find them, either in an animal home or a people home
  • We started off March is Reading Month by reading one of our favorite stories, Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “N” songs and reading books about things that start with the letter “N”
  • The students finished parent Valentine cards
  • We had group therapy with Mrs. Gallery, her intern Ms. M, and Ms. Staci. We made a Valentine craft and finished the prompt “I love…”
  • We read a story about pigs and completed a can, have, are chart filled with all the new information we learned
  • Our core vocab word of the week was “can.” We read stories with the word “can” and talked about things we can do and made requests such as, “Can I play?” and “Can I try?”
  • We celebrated Valentine’s Day by reading a special Valentine story that included pictures of our classmates, we made strawberry/banana smoothies with chocolate milk, and danced to Valentine songs
  • We practiced counting and number recognition with a Valentine counting book and practiced one to one correspondence with blocks and ice cube trays
  • The students listened to the story “The Three Little Pigs” and then conducted an experiment to see what objects will blow in the wind. The students placed different objects in front of a fan and then turned it on to see if they would move

Valentine Reminder

Don’t forget tomorrow is Valentine’s day.  If you would like your child to pass out Valentine’s to their classmates please send them in their backpacks tomorrow.

We will have a special snack after passing out Valentine’s to our friends.

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “M” songs, reading books about things that start with the letter “M” and completing our letter M book page by adding a mouse
  • The children painted at the easel with red and pink paint
  • We played on the trampoline, slide, sit n’ spin, and rocking horse to get out some of our energy…we can’t wait to go back out on the playground
  • We celebrated Dany’s birthday on Tuesday. Happy Birthday Dany!!!
  • The students wrote in their journals. Some students practiced tracing shapes in a heart shape candy box
  • We worked hard during read to self time on keeping our books on the table, turning pages from left to right, and pointing to pictures
  • We read a story about animal homes and then completed a matching activity, matching animals to their homes
  • Our core vocab word of the week was “what.” We read stories with the word “what” and answered “what” questions, such as “What is your favorite color?”
  • Kim read us the story “Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse!” and then we used a salad spinner to make spin art on heart shapes
  • We continued learning about animals and their homes and sorted objects by which type of home we would find them in…an animal home or a people home
  • The students made Valentine cards for their families
