PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We practiced counting and number identification with a spring interactive counting story.
  • The letter of the week was “x” so we completed our book and hand writing pages.
  • We played outside on the playground.
  • On Tuesday we went on our swimming field trip. We had so much fun splashing around in the water!
  • The children colored in their journals.
  • We practiced counting with the song “Five Green and Speckled Frogs” and a cookie sheet game.
  • On Friday, we read a book called “A Happy Planet” and talked about things we can do to save our planet since Earth day is on Saturday. We also marble painted an Earth and completed a writing prompt about what we can do to save our planet.

Field Trip Reminder

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18th we are going swimming at Hype! Please send in the following with your child:

  • Swim suit
  • Towel
  • Bag lunch – disposable items only

*Chaperones please meet us in the classroom at 10:30*

If you have not yet turned in your child’s permission slip please do so asap!  We cannot take them on the trip without it.  If your child is not attending the field trip they will have to stay home.

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • On Monday we had therapy group with Mr. Joe and Mrs. Gallery. We dyed eggs with food coloring and cool whip and made potato salad!
  • We finally got to play outside on the playground as the ground was dry enough to go out. We had so much fun on the jungle gym and swings.
  • The children drew in their journals.
  • We worked on stamina during read-to-self time.
  • The students practiced counting to ten with touch math and the story “Ten Easter Eggs.”
  • We tasted carrots are graphed if we liked them or not.
  • We read a story called “Where is Chicky Hiding?” and practiced prepositions with a stuffed bunny and plastic eggs. The children put the egg next to, on top of, under, behind, and in front of the bunny.
  • We read informational texts about rabbits and completed a can, have, are chart. Then we painted a rabbit silhouette after reading.
  • The children practiced counting objects and matching a number to the set.
  • We worked on color identification with the story “Happy Easter, Mouse!” and colored plastic eggs.
  • The children went on an egg hunt in the classroom and found a special treat of jelly beans inside!

  • Tuesday, April 18th – Hype Swimming Field Trip – Don’t forget to pack a bag lunch for your child if they are coming with us

Check Backpack!

Good Morning,

Please check your child’s take home folder daily.  This time of year there is a lot of important information going home pertaining field trips and annual IEP meetings.  This week I have sent home two permission slips.  Please return those by tomorrow if possible.  Our swimming field trip is on Tuesday! I am sorry for the late notice it snuck up on me 🙂 If you do not want your child to attend the trips please return the permission slips with “my child will stay home” at the top so that I know you have seen the form.

Newsletter for the Week of March 27th

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • This week we wrapped up our theme of seasons and weather.
  • We wrapped up our summer week by writing about what the weather and what we can wear and do during the spring months.
  • Kim read “There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Frog” to the kids and they got to feed our “old lady” with props.
  • We played a number identification game where the kids rolled a die counted the dots and then match the number.
  • The letter of the week was “W.” We completed our book page by painting with watercolors.
  • We read the poem “Itsy Bity Spider” and worked on sequencing. We also made a spider art project.  We used our handprints to make spiders and our fingerprints to make rain drops.
  • We practiced counting and number recognition with touch math and the book, “Eight Silly Monkeys.”
  • On the days it didn’t rain we took a walk outside.
  • We reviewed all four seasons and sorted pictures by seasons.
  • The students graphed their favorite weather.
  • We worked on core vocab. Focusing on the words “same” and “different.”
  • The children practiced fine motor and matching skills with puzzles.

Newsletter for the Week of March 20th

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • This month we are learning all about weather and the four seasons. This week we focused on summer.
  • We read interactive books about what people wear, do, and see during the summer months.
  • We wrapped up our spring week by writing about what the weather and what we can wear and do during the spring months.
  • The children practiced their counting and number recognition skills with touch math and the book “Five Green and Speckled Frogs.”
  • We made fruit loop necklaces and noise makers with Mr. Joe and Mrs. Gallery during our therapy group this week.
  • The letter of the week was “v.” We completed handwriting and book pages.
  • The students finished painting their four season trees with q-tips.
  • We read, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” with props. After the story we made our own hungry caterpillars inspired by Eric Carle.  We tore different shades of green paper to make the bodies.
  • The children played in the oatmeal sensory bin.
  • The weather was so nice on Friday we took a walk around the outside of the building because the playground was too muddy to play on.

 

 

Don’t forget to keep sending in your book slips for our train in the hallway!

 

Upcoming Events

  • Miss Ashley will be out all day on Tuesday, March 28th and the morning of Wednesday, March 29th for district related training.
  • Conferences are Wednesday, March 29th. This night is reserved for annual IEPs.  I have already contacted you if we need to meet.  If I have not contacted you about your child’s annual IEP you will hear from me soon in the upcoming weeks.
  • Our class goes to the book fair on Thursday, March 30th at 2:30. Please send in money with your child before this day if you would like them to purchase a book.

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • This month we are learning all about weather and the four seasons. This week we focused on spring.
  • We read interactive books about what people wear, do, and see during the spring months.
  • The children practiced their counting and number recognition skills with touch math and the book “Five Green and Speckled Frogs.”
  • The students drew in their journals.
  • We worked on building stamina during read to self time.
  • We read an informational book about frogs and made a can, have, are chart.
  • Trisha took us indoor sledding! She brought a sled and a ramp into the classroom and the children took turns going for a ride.
  • The class conducted an experiment to see what types of objects blow in the wind. We gathered objects from around the classroom and then predicted if it would blow in the wind or not.  Then we used a fan as our “wind” and placed the objects in front to see if our predictions were right or not.
  • We marbled painted shamrocks and read a book about the color green.
  • The children worked on their fine motor skills by stringing fruit loops onto pipe cleaners and using tweezers to pick the cereal up and put it into containers.
  • We also sorted the fruit loops by color.
  • Kim read us a book about the colors of a rainbow and then we used bingo markers to make our own rainbows.
