PEEK AT THE WEEK
- Our core vocab word of the week was “big”
- We practiced using the word “big” in many ways. The children played a file folder game where they choose the big objects to place on a big book, we sorted big and small elephants, and sang songs about things that are big and small
- Our letter of the week was “b”
- We practiced the letter “b” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “b,” we did a butterfly bingo sheet, sorted colored bears, and made black bats
- We read “The Napping House” and “The Seals on the Bus” during which we practiced making animal sounds
- The students had group therapy with Ms. Staci and Ms. B (our speech therapist sub while Mrs. Gallery is out on maternity leave). During group we sang mat man and put his body together with wooden pieces and then we made a mat man snack with pretzels
- Ms. B brought in bubbles and the children made choices from a choice board to determine where on their body they wanted her to blow bubbles (on their arm, leg, hand, etc) and we practiced identifying body parts
- We also had a practice tornado drill this week. The children did a good job staying quiet and trying to keep their heads down
