PEEK AT THE WEEK
- We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “L” songs, reading books about things that start with the letter “L” and completing our letter L book page by adding a ladybug
- Our classroom project for alphabet and number toys was fully funded on Donors Choose so the children spent time exploring some of our new toys this week!! Special thanks to all our donors who made this possible!
- The children practiced their counting and number recognition skills with an interactive winter counting book and a roll and cover game
- We read a story about animals in the winter and completed a comprehension matching task
- The class conducted their science experiment for the Science Fair next week. We asked the question “What melts ice the fastest?” We mixed together water and salt, water and vinegar, and water and sugar and put the solutions to the test. The winner was water and salt! The students had fun pouring, scooping, shaking, and squirting while finding the answer
- The students played in our sensory bin that now has a Valentine’s Day theme. The used shovels to scoop the beans and fill heart shaped containers
- We read “10 Grouchy Groundhogs” and colored in groundhogs to use on our prediction chart
- After reading another groundhog story the students predicted whether the groundhog would see its shadow or not. We counted up how many people said yes and how many said no then talked about which one had more responses
- The children practiced letter identification with our class name book and then they decorated the first letter of their name with Valentine Day themed stickers
