PEEK AT THE WEEK
- This week our theme was zoo animals in preparation for our field trip on Monday!
- Our letter this week was the letter “z” very fitting with our theme. J The students completed handwriting practice sheets and their last book page!
- The children worked on their fine motor skills with puzzles, fine motor jars, and tongs.
- We practiced core vocabulary words “same” and “different.” We read stories about things that are the same and things that are different and then found items around the room.
- The students painted animal tracks with toy animals.
- We read a story called “Max Goes to the Zoo” and talked about animals we might see when we go to the zoo. After the story the students picked what animal they hope to see on our trip and we graphed the results. Most of the students would like to see a monkey.
- We practiced counting and number recognition with a 5 Little Monkeys cookie sheet game.
- On Friday, we read a book about taking a field trip to the zoo. The story talked about things you can and cannot do at the zoo. We are all looking forward to our trip!
