Newsletter for the Week of March 13th

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • This month we are learning all about weather and the four seasons. This week we focused on spring.
  • We read interactive books about what people wear, do, and see during the spring months.
  • The children practiced their counting and number recognition skills with touch math and the book “Five Green and Speckled Frogs.”
  • The students drew in their journals.
  • We worked on building stamina during read to self time.
  • We read an informational book about frogs and made a can, have, are chart.
  • Trisha took us indoor sledding! She brought a sled and a ramp into the classroom and the children took turns going for a ride.
  • The class conducted an experiment to see what types of objects blow in the wind. We gathered objects from around the classroom and then predicted if it would blow in the wind or not.  Then we used a fan as our “wind” and placed the objects in front to see if our predictions were right or not.
  • We marbled painted shamrocks and read a book about the color green.
  • The children worked on their fine motor skills by stringing fruit loops onto pipe cleaners and using tweezers to pick the cereal up and put it into containers.
  • We also sorted the fruit loops by color.
  • Kim read us a book about the colors of a rainbow and then we used bingo markers to make our own rainbows.
