PEEK AT THE WEEK
- Our core vocab word of the week was “down”
- We practiced using the word “down” in many ways. The children completed different tasks such as pushing the handle down and watching the ball go down the gumball machine, going down the slide, going down stairs, gluing down pictures that start with the letter “d” and singing “All the Leaves are Falling Down”
- Our letter of the week was “D”
- We practiced the letter “D” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “D,” we did a dinosaur bingo sheet and sang letter “D” songs
- The children worked on identifying the first letter of their name during morning attendance
- We read “We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt” and even went on our own leaf hunt walk!
- The students practiced counting, number recognition, and 1:1 correspondence with the poem “5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate”
- Yvonne read us a preposition story about pumpkins and we worked on following directions and putting the pumpkin where the story told us, such as on top of our head or under our hands
- The children made marble painting spider webs then rolled a dice and counted how many spiders to add to their web. These projects are hanging outside our classroom
