Newsletter for the Week of April 16th

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We continued letter of the week by listening to letter “S” songs and reading books about things that start with the letter “S.” The students completed their letter “S” book page by adding stars
  • The students painted blue rain drops at the easel to hang in the hallway as part of our spring bulletin board
  • We practiced counting, number recognition, and subtraction with the song “Five Green and Speckled Frogs”
  • The students conducted a sink or float science experiment. First, the children made a guess of what would happen to their object and then put their object to the test to see if they were correct
  • The students are learning about land and water this month. We read a book and listened to a song about the different types of landforms and then the students chose which type they would like to visit
  • We had a practice fire drill
  • We practiced letter recognition with our book about the first letters in our classmate’s names
  • The children practiced their fine motor skills with all sorts of different tasks including lacing, puzzles, pegs, and fine motor jars
  • We sang going on a bear hunt and went through all the movements with the song while practicing positional words like over, under, and around
