Newsletter for the Week of October 24th

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • On Monday, we had therapy group with Mr. Joe and Mrs. Gallery. We explored Halloween sensory bowls.  We felt eye balls (peeled grapes), monster teeth (candy corn), brains (spaghetti), and witch fingers (carrot sticks).
  • The students made fizzing pumpkins during a science activity. Each student scooped baking soda into a pumpkin container and then squeezed orange vinegar on top to make it fizz and bubble!
  • We read “The Five Little Bats” and worked on counting and number recognition (1-5).
  • The students stood next to a stack of pumpkins and we counted the pumpkins to see how many pumpkins tall everyone is.
  • We read “It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse!” and talked about the different emotions of the pumpkins in the book (happy, sad, silly, surprised). After reading, we marble painted pumpkins and gave them facial expressions to match the different emotions we read about.
  • The children painted mini pumpkins.
  • The students decorated their trick or treat bags for our field trip on Monday.
  • We read “Go Away Big Green Monster” with props.
  • We made a pudding cup monster snack.
