Newsletter for the Week of October 3rd

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • This week we started a farm theme to prepare for our upcoming field trip.
  • The children finger painted pigs in mud with chocolate pudding. It took some of us longer than others to find out that we were using pudding instead of paint, but everyone got around to tasting.
  • We read “I went Walking” during story time and practiced making animal sounds of the animals in the book.
  • We sang “Old McDonald had a Farm” over and over. 🙂 The children took turns pulling farm animals from a bucket to decide which order we would sing in.
  • The students helped make butter! We poured heavy whipping cream into a container with marbles and shook it until it became a cream like consistency.  We tried our butter on crackers at snack time.
  • The children worked on their fine motor skills with our button and peg jars. This is one of our favorite activities to do when we have some extra time.  The children love practicing and cheering for one another.
  • Some of us took a trip to the farm! We got to ride horses, pet all sorts of farm animals, feed a baby goat, and go on a hay ride!  We had so much fun.
