Archive for April 2020

Good Morning! Why is it snowing? This is getting ridiculous!

Today we will be doing Reading Groups and Math. There is also a Reading Assignment on Google Classroom about flowers – The title says Annuals vs, it was supposed to be Annuals vs Perennials. That is a one-page read with Main Idea and details questions. You can answer the questions on the Google Doc and press TURN IN. That is due on Monday.

Math today will be: 3rd grade – Module 5, Lesson 3 – Again, please watch the whole video all the way to the end. Get out the materials that the teacher tells you, so you can work with her. Paper or your own white board. This lesson will be due Monday by the end of the day.

4th grade math – Module 5, Lesson 3. Same directions as third graders – watch the whole video all the way to the end. Work with the teacher on paper or print out the Problem Set. This will be due Monday at the end of the day.

NEW READING SITE! We are going to try a site – some people call it Raz Kids.

1. You log onto www.kidsa – z.com.

2. Your user name is your first name – use the capital letter -example: Christian.

3. Teacher Username is MissKnaus. There is NO SPACE between the words. Incredibly someone already had that teacher username.

4. Your password is 1234. If they let you change it, you can, but PLEASE remember your password. You can just leave it though. Please only go into your name – no one else’s. I will trust you. This program shows me how many minutes you spend on there reading, so make sure you are in your name.

5. Each reading group has an assignment already. Read the book I assigned and answer questions. The program gives you badges and you can build an avatar and move up levels, but WARNING, you have to do well on the quizzes. It will tell me your scores and will only move your Reading level up if you get almost 100%. Read carefully.

****I will have one more blog post in a little while here.

Tomorrow – Friday – we will be getting back to Reading Groups. I will be giving you a site that we will be using and a password. On the site, you will find a Reading assignment already for you at your level. There will be reading and some questions. The site will show me who is reading and answering questions and how many minutes you spend there. There are some really interesting books – both fiction and nonfiction.

Also, tomorrow we will have a Math assignment for each grade.

Please look here on the blog tomorrow morning (Friday) so you can see tomorrow’s work. Make sure you have looked on Google Classroom to see the assignments that are due this week.

Today at 1:00 – 2 new assignments will be showing up on Google Classroom.

4th Graders – Look under 4th Grade Social Studies – there are 2 videos and an activity to print or copy. There is also a slide show about the Bill of Rights and Responsibilities for citizens of the U.S. You will have until next Wednesday to complete this. Please ask a parent to help you with the activity.

3rd Graders and 4th Graders – Look under READING in Google Classroom. I would like to try another digital story from the iReady site. Please click on the video/story and try it. It is called Wearing Worm Spit. After each page, a READING CHECK button will pop up. Answer the question. ***Please let me know if this works on your computer at home. The last page shows a man wearing a tie. Is this program freezing up on your computer, or does it work? Please let me know.

For today: Please look at the blog before this – April 16. Work on any assignments that you haven’t turned in yet that will be due by tomorrow. You can also work on Zearn. Both grades should be done with Lessons 1 and 2 in your Module 5.
