4th graders – I made a short video for you to watch under 4th grade math. Many of you got the 4th box wrong on your Math quiz last week, so I found a way to draw the tape diagram and show you. Please watch it!

I hope this works! Great job Ava!
Unfortunately, I have spent much of my Wednesday caring for a very sick 17 year old cat whose veterinary issues had me from South Lyon to Walled Lake today. She is back home with me, but taking it day to day.
We’ve had a lot of work this week, so why don’t we take Thursday, April 30 to have a “catch up” day. I will NOT be assigning anything new, but I am going to be working on the Student Library in Raz Kids. Students can feel free to go into the site www.kidsa-z.com and read or listen to books and take quizzes if you want.
Maybe take this day to visit Music, PE, Art, or Science Enrichment if you haven’t yet. Or, you can go to Mrs. Ackerman’s blog and link onto one of her many great sites that she uses. Maybe you are catching up on Zearn.
Kids – maybe you are helping your parents today – clean or cook or do a craft. Practice your recorder. Sing some karaoke. Do a Tik Tok dance!
Maybe you are working on your Opinion Story and checking it over.
I will be available during Thursday to answer emails. As always, if you want to request a phone call, please email me with your #.
Miss Knaus
I can’t believe that Friday is May 1!
Today’s new assignments: Math, Writing, Reading
Math: 3rd Grade – Please read the directions in Google Classroom. You have Lesson 8 today. Do the Problem Set with Ms. Roose. You only have to show me the Exit Ticket and the Homework. Due Friday, May 1. *Really fun Sprint today!
Math 4th Grade – Today we are skipping to Lesson 9. This is a new topic – using division to make equivalent fractions. PLEASE watch the video with Mrs. Gradney. Do the Problem Set with her and check it with her. You have a choice if you want to watch the Fluency and Application problem today. You only have to show me the Exit Ticket and the Homework. Due Friday.
Writing: Mrs. Juntunen put some videos to watch about writing your final Opinion piece. You have until Friday to work on writing your story. Make sure you read her directions. Use good sentences with capital letters and periods. Make sure you have all the parts of the story. Have a parent or big sister or brother read over your story before you turn it in. Due Friday.
Reading: You have until Friday to finish reading the book on Barack Obama and take the quiz. Go to www.kidsa-z.com to do this. Don’t forget about the Cause/Effect assignment.
Science: Why do your biceps bulge? Mystery Science – 4 questions are due Thursday, April 30.
Wednesday morning I will not be available by email until after 10 a.m. I am taking a sick cat to the Vet for a curbside drop-off appointment. I will post the assignments in the morning and give directions here on this blog. Thank you for your understanding. Miss Knaus
After watching the Science video -” Why do your biceps bulge?”, how many people are going to have chicken for dinner? (I couldn’t resist! LOL)
If you can find it, Tomie depaola wrote a book called “Tom” which talks about his father being a butcher, and they would take the chicken feet to school and do that!
Today we have 2 new Assignments in Google Classroom and then you can visit some of our Special Classes or finish work from yesterday.
New Today:
1. Reading Everyone – April 28 Barack Obama. Please watch the video that I made for you! I hope it works! Let me know if it is asking for permission. In the video, I explain the assignment – Cause and Effect. I do the first part for you – you will finish the Google Doc and TURN IN. You will also need to go over to www.kidsa-z.com and read the next chapter in the book. (on the video I begin the chapter for you.) Due Wednesday, April 29. **Only if you are done with everything and want to read more, you can finish the whole book and take the quiz, but you don’t have to.
2. Science – Both Grades – A new unit! Today we begin The Human Machine – which is learning about different systems of our bodies. There are some awesome experiments – and the Mystery Science Videos are great too! There will be dissections!(cutting open things that were once alive!) I will warn you ahead of time if they are gross. Today, Doug compares our body to a robot! If you have a printer, there is an awesome activity. Make sure to watch the video more than once. What you must TURN IN is a Google Doc with 4 questions from the video. This is due on Thursday, April 30.
3. Things to finish if you need to: Math Lesson 7 – both 3rd graders and 4th graders are on Lesson 7 in their Modules. Zearn – up through Lesson 7.
Writing – Finish your Introduction and Conclusion for Opinion Writing.
4. Don’t forget to go to Gym (PE), Music, and Science Enrichment. They have all put assignments for this week. Please do not get confused – Science Both Grades is from me and I mark that as completed or not completed. The topic Science Enrichment is from Mrs. Poisson’s class. Her assignment is called the Paper Plate Marble Maze STEM Challenge, and it looks super fun!
5. Have a great day and help your parents too!
Good Morning everyone! I hope lots of you got outside this weekend!
Happy Ramadan to those that are observing this time.
Today we have 3 assignments, but also, don’t forget about Zearn. Everyone should be on Lesson 7 now in Zearn.
Today:
1. Math – Look in Google Classroom under your grade for directions. Both grades are on Lesson 7. 3rd graders, be sure to read the directions because you now have 3 separate videos instead of 1 video. Math for each grade is due on Wednesday, April 29.
2. Writing Both Grades – Mrs. Juntunen put a new assignment for us today. Look for Opinion Writing 4/27 Introduction and Conclusion. Watch her video and follow the directions. If you turned in the Reasons and Details that was due yesterday, she moved your work into today’s assignment so you have it there. If you did NOT do this, you need to do this today! Today’s lesson is due Tuesday (tomorrow).
3. Reading Everyone. Look in Google Classroom under Reading Everyone. There are directions for a book that we are going to read together this week called Barack Obama. After you complete the work in Google Classroom, then go to www.kidsa-z.com and look under My Assignments. Find the book called Barack Obama. Read the introduction and the first chapter. You DO NOT have to read the whole book today. We will do a little each day this week. You do NOT have to TURN IN this today either. Please keep it in Google Classroom – or in a safe place at home if you printed it.
Dear Parents,
I hope you and your family are safe and healthy. Today we completed the first week of our new Continuity plan guidelines and I am seeking your feedback. Below is a short survey to help us better understand the needs of the community as a whole. The collected results will allow us to make some well-informed decisions moving forward. It is anonymous and greatly appreciated.

Stay well and take care

I’m noticing a lot of students are not keeping up with Zearn. This program was purchased by Dearborn Public Schools to go hand in hand with Eureka Math. Like I have said in the past, I see tremendous improvement and understanding from the students that are doing the Zearn lessons that match the lessons we are on. As our Math gets more difficult, this is a great way for students to learn it while “having fun.” Both grades should be on Lesson 6 in Zearn.
The following students are where they should be! Great job to:
Christian, Kassem, Madilyn
I would LOVE to add more names to this list!!
