Online Learning Clarification

Students and Parents,

While I encourage you to stay physically active at all times, please be sure to do so without compromising the health and safety of yourself and others. The workouts on the checklist I sent are all solitary in nature and can be done in your home.

During this time of social distancing, I would suggest any sporting activity in which you engage be one that is solitary such as shooting baskets, kicking a soccer ball into a net, yoga, etc. There are many activities that can be done in a socially responsible fashion. My main goal is for you to remain safe while continuing to be active which is also important for your health and well-being.

If you or your parents feel a sporting activity is not consistent with the recommendations for your safety during this time, please feel free to omit that portion of the checklist.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Online Learning Week 2: 3/23-3/27

Students and Parents,

Great job with your workouts last week! Attached is the checklist for week 2 of our online learning. Just like last week, download the attachment, enable editing, document your daily workouts and return the checklist to me on Friday.

For those of you who had trouble dowloading the checklist, please make a checklist of your own and send it back to me with your documented workouts. If you do any additional exercises/workouts/sporting activities beyond what is asked of you on the checklist, please document that as well. I enjoy knowing when you’ve gone above and beyond to make your physical fitness a priority.

Hope everyone is safe and well!

Mr. Barkoff

End of Week 1 – 3/20

If you haven’t already submitted your checklist, please do so by the end of the day today. I have received most but there are still a few missing. Of those I’ve received, you’re all doing a great job.

Please email me if you have questions. Stay safe!

Checklist Due – 3/20

Good morning 🙂 Hopefully your workouts have been going well. Remember it will help you prepare for future fitness tests as well as help your body and mind during this unusual time. Please email your first week’s checklist to me by the end of the day today. I have already received several completed checklists from students documenting their daily workouts. If for some reason you had trouble downloading the checklist I sent, I will accept a checklist of your own making. Or, even a simple email documenting your daily workout will suffice.

Next week’s workout checklist will be sent on Sunday night. If you have any questions, please email or comment on my blog. I hope you are all safe and well.

Checking in – 3/19

Parents and Students,

Just making sure everyone has been able to either download the checklist or create one of their own. Please be sure to submit your document by the end of the day tomorrow and again each Friday that school is closed. Again, any form of documentation of your completed workouts is acceptable.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email or leave a message on my blog. Thank you and stay safe!

Checking In – 3/18

Students,

I hope you and your families are well. Please let me know if you have any problem dowloading the checklist. Once you do, you can mark on it directly and submit it to me at the end of each week. Getting some exercise at this time will not only help you on your fitness tests when you return to school but will also help you feel better right now.

Parents,

If you look at Parent Connect during this time, the grades you see are the grades your child had at the end of the fourth card marking and the grades we would have discussed at Parent/Teacher conferences this week. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Be safe and well!

DHS Chromebook Pick-Up Today

Parents,

We have some good news. For those of you needing to borrow a Chromebook, the building will be open from 3-6 pm today for you and your child to come and get one. Please enter the circle drive and enter the first door by the attendance office and auditorium. I’ve included all the documents that will come with them for your reference; we will have these available for you at pickup too. We don’t have enough Chromebooks for every student, so please only borrow one if you absolutely need it.

Thanks Mr. Martin
