Checking In – 4/29

Hello All 🙂 Those of you who have not turned in Assignment #1 (week of 4/27-5/1), the engagement question on the positive aspects of physical fitness during this time, please do so as soon as possible. For those of you that have, I’ve read through and checked in all of them. Keep up the good work!

Reminder: Make sure you are doing your daily workouts and documenting them on your checklists which are due Friday, May 1. Please submit the checklists through Google Classroom.

Stay healthy and safe!

Reminder – Google Meet has been cancelled for this week, 4/27-5/1

Assignments #1 and #2 for this week have been posted in Google Classroom.

Dearborn High School: Classwork During Shutdown

You may have seen information from Dearborn Public Schools about the approval of our Continuity of Learning Plan by Wayne County RESA.

In short, the work now counts starting Monday. Students must check in twice each week with each of their teachers at the teacher’s scheduled time, and they must turn in their assignments in order to get credit. Students who are not checking in and who are not doing their work may not earn credit.

Here is what the learning plan will look like for DHS students beginning Monday, April 20:

  • Students need to check in with their teachers twice a week. (Teachers are sharing their expectations for student check ins using the same platforms they have been using to communicate with students: iBlogs, Google Classroom, iLearn, and Remind.)
  • Teachers and students can use the following schedule below to arrange check in times.
Monday and WednesdayTuesday and ThursdayFriday
1:00-1:401st Hour Check-In4th Hour Check-InAs Needed
1:40-2:202nd Hour Check-In5th Hour Check-In
2:20-3:003rd Hour Check-In6th Hour Check-In
  • Students who are checking in regularly and passing 75% of their assignments have the ability to earn an “A” on their report card for semester 2.
  • There will be no final exams for semester 2.
  • Last day for classwork for seniors will be May 21.

For students who need Chromebooks, there is another Chromebook distribution at Dearborn High School tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

If students are unable to check in or complete assignments, please be sure to communicate with counselors and teachers.

Checklists and New Plan

Students and Parents,

Hopefully this week’s workouts went well. I look forward to receiving your checklists sometime today.

We will be using the same checklist to document workouts only it will be returned by way of Google Classroom. Students will be asked to join their respective class and will use the following class-specific codes that were sent today via email.

Also, beginning next week through the end of the semester, we will be using Google Hangout to have face-to-face time where we can discuss our workouts, ask and answer questions, etc. Google Hangout time for each class is as follows:

1st hour – every Monday at 1:00 p.m.

2nd hour – every Monday at 1:40 p.m

3rd hour – every Monday at 2:20 p.m.

4th hour – every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

6th hour – every Tuesday at 2:20 p.m.

We will also have office hours on Wednesdays for 1st-3rd hours from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and Thursdays for 4th-6th hours from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

As always, if you have any questions, you can email me, write on my blog or send me a message through Google Classroom.
