We are still looking for cans for the food drive through HYPE. Friday is the last day to bring cans. The winning class will earn a pizza party. So far we have 35 cans!

**Not for this week, but a permission slip for the Zoo field trip will come home next Monday. You will indicate if you can/want to chaperone. We will pick the names out of the hat on November 26th to provide you 2 weeks of notice prior to the trip. To be a chaperone you need to be willing to ride the bus and be responsible for 4-5 kids by carrying their lunchboxes, keeping them warm/safe, and you must be ready for a good time- no matter what weather! We plan to leave at 9am and be back to Howard by 2pm.

**Not for this week, but we plan to have a second grade friendsgiving on Tuesday, November 26th. More information to follow 🙂

A note from our homeroom mom about Halloween.

Hello Parents,

Our Halloween event is almost here!

On Thursday, the party will start at 12:15 and end at around 1:30 and then students will be getting ready for the parade which is at 1:45.

A few things to keep in mind:

Your child will be provided with pizza, breadsticks, salad, veggies, fruit, and other healthy snacks. We have moved the time up so they are able to eat and enjoy the party.

They may bring their costume in a bag and wear it at 12:15 for the Halloween fun!

If you would like to come in to help before the party to set up please try to come in at 11:30 on Thursday.

Thank you!

Chip Sale

The PTA would like us all to remind you the chip sale is only going until Friday and the chips WILL be delivered prior to Halloween. I am buying one for our classroom for snacks. I know it is not the healthiest, but it will help earn our school money!

This Week 10/7/19-10/11/19

spelling words: gray, know, let, live, of, fox, lock, poke, pop, cone.

I have had parents ask about a harder spelling list for kids who have gotten 100% on their tests so far. The whole second grade team and I have decided to wait until after report card 1 is finished, so November 4th will be the first day of 2 lists. We will give a harder word list to students who have gotten a 1 in spelling on the report card. We will revisit the list of kids after each marking period! Thanks for being flexible!

Part of Daily 5 these past few weeks has been visualizing. The students have been reading poems and drawing a picture to show what the poem described. This is huge as we move to books with less, or no, pictures.

Module 3 has been moving along. This is a longer module with essential standards in it, which is why we’re taking it slow. Topic Quizzes and Module Tests may not be returned until towards the end of the module due to using the tests for knowing where our kids are.

Friday is a half day-dismissal at 11:45am.

A Halloween note is coming home today from our homeroom mom!
