They did not get books this week with their homework due to the amount of testing going on- Reading level, math test, NWEA, etc.

Happy New Year! This Friday January 10th is scheduled for a 2nd grade bake sale. 2nd grade families donate baked goods (it doesn’t have to be home baked. Items will be for sale for 50 cents to $1 . Following items are needed cupcakes, muffins, cookies, individual packages chips/popcorn, ring pops. Etc . All items must be donated morning of the bake sale.

Wednesday is late start- arrival is 9:35am.
They are not getting a new book this week. They will get math homework nightly Monday-Wednesday. We will have a spelling quiz on Thursday and a Topic D quiz Thursday for math.
Friday is our party. it will be from 9:45am-11:45am. The sing along is 1:50-2:50ish. You are welcome to attend both, but you will not be allowed to stay in the classroom in between- sorry! Also, if you are taking your child home after the sing along, you MUST go to the office and sign them out. No parents are allowed back to our room after the sing along. They will already be packed up! 🙂

Wednesday is when our book order is due. I know it is not much time, but we need to order Wednesday to make sure it comes before the break!
Wednesday is our field trip. Please have your child dress appropriately since we will be inside and outside. Hat, gloves, coat, snow pants, boots, etc. We will leave BY 9:15am and come back to school around 2pm. Students should bring a snack for after the zoo, but NO food will be brought on the bus to the zoo.
Wednesday is also our day to go to the holiday boutique after the zoo. Please send your child with money and their from that day if they plan on shopping. If you bring it early, I will keep it in the classroom for them.
Ponytail Cutting and Sing Along
When: Friday, December 20, 2019 at 1:50 p.m.
Where: Howard Elementary School’s Gym
What:Â We are cutting and collecting hair that is at least 8 inches in length (gray, color-treated, and highlighted is fine).

In order to provide students opportunities to work with community organizations and participate in experiences that support efforts to help those that are less fortunate, our Student Council will be participating in the Goodfellows Newspaper Sales on Friday, December 6. Students will be selling the newspapers at all four corners surrounding the school during drop off from 8:20 until 8:40 in the morning. Please help them in their fundraising efforts by dropping a donation in their buckets as you pass by. Thank you in advance for your support!
Happy December! The field trip note is coming home about the zoo. If your child is not coming for any reason, please write that on the slip and return it. Slips are due by Friday, but please turn them in ASAP. Chaperones are being chosen based on lottery and will be announced by Friday.
