Hi! I know everyone has A LOT of questions. I am willing to give ALL info I have. For the next three weeks we will be doing online learning.

Writing: Everyday! I will try to send prompts for week days, but if for some reason I do not, please have your child write about their day, or write a story. Please make sure to have them use proper capitals and punctuation, as well.

Reading: 20 minutes minimum a day. Please continue to write your monthly minutes down for march is reading month! I will also assign books and questions on RazKids.

Spelling: We will review this week’s spelling next week and then do the next 2 weeks as new words. When we return we will take a spelling test of 30 words for all 3 weeks- it will not include cold words.

Math: Zearn! As of right now your child can finish Module 6 of zearn. I will let you know if they can move on to Module 7. Module 6 is arrays, similar groups, repeated addition number sentences, and multiplication to go with it.

Handwriting: Practicing neat handwriting and taking time to do so would be very beneficial right now. Some kids have been asking to learn cursive- this would be a great time to do so!

Social Studies & Science: Scholastic News! You may do any of the articles. If you have a printer, feel free to print the sheets that go with it. I will be posting a landform project for the students to complete with their families. I am going to try to link some mystery science lessons and videos, too!

You need extra items to do? Give your child addition and subtraction facts that are timed. We give 1 minute for 44 questions, typically. Have them write a continuous story.

The 10th Annual 5^th Grade Talent Show

The PBiS reward for February is to attend the talent show on Friday.  Students with more than 6 yellows, a blue, or a red will not be permitted to attend.  The STAND Students are asking for a $1 donation per person attending the show.  All proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Hospital in Detroit.  Please bring your dollar on Tomorrow or Friday.  The talent show is for students only due to limited space in the gym.

A field trip note will be coming home this week. We are going to see DogMan at the Dearborn Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, March 18th. We will be taking a bus and we are not having any parent chaperones. The cost will be $15 per student, which includes a bus, admission, and a snack back at school!

Last thing! If you would like to read to our class, please let me know! I want it to be a surprise for the kids on who is coming in! My preferred time slots are: 9am Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 1:15pm Any Day, or 12:15pm Any Day! I can make other times work if needed in case these don’t work with your schedule. We have a small change in the Breakfast Menu which is no more Donut on the menu. we changed February the 4th to Blueberry Muffins, and February 14 to Vanilla yogurt.The changes are made by the SFE company so if you have any questions please let the lunch staff know.
