Vocabulary Maps

How to complete the assignment:

  1. You were assigned a word or two (words came from a legend that we have been studying). Write the word in the center of your map.
  2. Define the word in your own words, or using a dictionary definition. You might use a different resource to define the word.
  3. Characteristics: How many syllables does the word have? What is the part of speech? Spelling patterns? Long/short vowel sounds? Rhymes with…
  4. Examples: Synonyms, or copy the sentence in which it was used, OR write your own sentence using the new word.
  5. Non-examples: Antonyms

The students in our class have voted to celebrate our first card marking PBIS by playing a boys vs. girls basketball game this Friday morning. Students who have met the behavior expectations (at least 80% of days on green or higher) will be allowed to participate. Those who did not will have an alternative activity during this time.
