Good evening!

  • Remember to put your homework notebook back in your backpack after completing tonight’s assignment. I enjoyed reading last night’s sentences. Some students even included Monday’s assignment with their entry. Nice job!!! Let’s be sure to use both sides of each page.
  • We have check-out tomorrow morning. Don’t forget to bring your library book to school.
  • We also have gym tomorrow. Remember to wear your gym shoes.

You will receive your Mrs. Potatohead reward tomorrow! Well done! Mrs. Coleman

Good evening!

  • October homework calendar and green (in some cases black) homework notebook were sent home today. Please be sure to return the notebook daily so that I can check the assignment and return the notebook.
  • You’ll find a reading log on the back of the calendar. For every night of reading to self or reading to/with someone, you may color one candy corn.
  • This calendar/reading log will be collected on October 31.
  • As we continue to focus on counting and cardinality, please encourage your child to practice counting, reading, and writing numbers at home. The assignment, Sets of Objects, is due tomorrow. Most students completed it in class and turned it in today.
  • If your child has a special toy that can be pushed or pulled to make it move, he/she may bring it to school tomorrow. Toys will be used during our science lesson and returned the same day.

Good evening!

  • The Problem/Solution assignment that some of you will find in the Nicky folder needs to be completed at home and returned tomorrow. Some students turned it in today. The story I read, Boog and the Bug Collecting Kit, is about the main character’s choice to come up with a solution (plan) for his problem. It ties in nicely with Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind.
  • Look for the green homework notebook to be sent home tomorrow. I’ll also be sending an October calendar with daily assignments. The notebook should be returned daily so that I can check the assignment. Students should be able to complete two assignments per page. Please be sure to use both sides of each page.
  • This Friday, October 6, is a NO SCHOOL day for kindergarten students.
  • The Scholastic Book Order has shipped and should arrive by the middle of this week.

Good afternoon! Just a few notes for today:

  • Mother Bruce Characters, Problem, Solution was assigned in class. Many students have already finished it and turned it in to me. If you happen to find it in your child’s folder, please have him/her finish it at home.
  • Members of the TIGERS, LIONS, and RED WINGS reading groups need to finish the “I can see______” assignment at home and bring it to their group meeting in the morning.
  • Picture Day is Wednesday, October 11. If you plan to purchase a package,add-on, or enhancement, please send the envelope including payment to school with your child on that day. I will send a reminder the Monday before picture day.
  • Students need to know their BIRTHDAY, ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER. So far we have one student who knows all three!

Well done Olivia!!!

See you tomorrow! Mrs. Coleman

Good afternoon! Here are a few notes for today:

  • There are several numbers students will need to know. They include: BIRTHDAY, HOME ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER. We will be using these numbers during both our calendar practice and the Numbers in Our World unit in Math. I’ll start asking for these numbers tomorrow.
  • The Mother Bruce assignment needs to be finished at home if happen to find it in your child’s folder. It is due tomorrow. Students had 30 min. to work on this assignment in class. The directions are to draw pictures to represent the main character’s (Bruce’s) likes and dislikes.
  • We have Media check-out tomorrow morning. Students can only check out a new good-fit book if their last one is returned.

Good evening!

Hopefully by now everyone has had a chance to cool down and relax. I know I am headed to bed very soon. The heat is absolutely exhausting!

Just a couple of notes for today:

  • We’ve started working on writing a personal narrative (story) about responsibility. This is also our current focus in Social Studies. Students had time today to draw an illustration (picture) of a time when they demonstrated responsibility. We will take time tomorrow to discuss our story ideas before writing.
  • Today we took the NWEA math test using the Chromebooks. With that out of the way, we will now begin using our interactive Math notebooks for daily lessons. The first unit deals with counting and cardinality.
  • There is still some confusion about lunch in the morning. Please prompt your child so that he/she can tell me without any doubt whether they brought a lunch from home or need 1st/2nd choice.
  • Blue Nicky folders need to be sent to school everyday. Please be sure to initial the Leaders in Learning charts at the end of the week.
  • Water bottles should be sent to school tomorrow and Wednesday as high temps will be in the 90s and our classroom is like an oven! Today we took frequent breaks to walk to the drinking fountains. It would be much easier/quicker to send a bottle or two or three from home. Thank you!

Good evening!

Just a few notes for this evening…

  • Blue Nicky folders need to be sent to school and taken home every day. Please check the folder daily for notes/homework.
  • Students should be well aware of what they have/don’t have for lunch and if they need to order 1st or 2nd choice. Lunch count is still taking up a good 30 min. of our morning. I’d really like to get it down to under 10 min. Please prompt them in the morning before they get to school.
  • Students should know when they celebrate their birthday. I’ve been asking all week and still more than half of our class cannot answer the question.
  • NO SCHOOL Friday
  • After tomorrow, blankets/towels will it been needed. Our rest time really isn’t working out as planned. Thank you!

Good afternoon!

Tonight’s homework is to complete the assignment, “I can write my name”. It is a 2-sided assignment that we started in class. Please return to school tomorrow in the blue Nicky folder.

Here is my unique code for placing book orders online: PFRLN

I will be placing the book order this Friday, September 22.

Here is the link to use Remind for messaging: https://www.remind.com/join/fb39dg

Finally, please remember to send only healthy snacks to school. Today, I noticed that Olivia was eating an apple and Joshua was eating grapes. I remarked at what healthy food choices they had made. I noticed some slightly better snacks, and then some students who were eating chips and Rick Krispie treats. When we get to Habit 7, Sharpen the Saw, we will be discussing the importance of feeding our bodies healthy foods.  (Currently, we are still on Habit 1: Be Proactive.)

Don’t forget- this Friday is a NO SCHOOL day for Kindergarten and Young 5s.

Good evening!

Thank you to those families who came to this evening’s Open House! I’ll be sure to upload Mrs. Waddell’s ppt. presentation for anyone who’d like to take a closer look. Thanks also for signing up for my blog!

FriYAY is almost here! We’ve had about half of our class present their NAME posters this week. Looking forward to the rest. Remember, they are due tomorrow.

Your child should have brought home his/her first chosen book from our Media Center. Will visit the library every Thursday morning. Please enjoy your book while you have it, and be prepared to return the book next week.
