SOCIAL STUDIES: Research your assigned section of the Preamble. On Monday, we’ll get back into groups to share our findings. Then, each group will have a chance to share their knowledge with the class.
READING: RTS x30min./Reading Log- I will collect the Reading Logs on Monday. Word of the Week (tranquil) due Monday.
We didn’t have a chance to take the Spelling Test today, so we’ll do that on Monday as well.

Can you believe that March is just days away? A calendar of “suggested” activities for March is Reading Month went home today. We’ve been discussing some other possible activities, such as Book Projects and a weekend meet-up at the Henry Ford Centennial Library. This is something that I’ve done with my students and their families for about 8 years now. I’ll send more information home with the students next week.
I hope that everyone enjoyed today’s performance by the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra. You definitely demonstrated knowledge of proper concert etiquette!

Reminder: This Thursday, February 26th is our field trip to the Performing Arts Center. I am so excited to see and hear the Dearborn Symphony perform! Mrs. Kalasz has requested that you dress nicely for the concert. Don’t forget to bring your gym shoes, as we will still have Gym in the afternoon.
Funny story: Once, when I was teaching at Oakman Elementary we had gym and picture day on the same day. As you might imagine, most students were “dressed up” for their pictures. I had a student who went all out and wore a TUXEDO for his school picture. I will not soon forget the image of him running as fast as he could around the track in his tuxedo. Priceless.
I was on my third Samoa cookie when I remembered to update the blog!

Please make sure that you are spending at least 30 min. per day reading to self. Every time you sit down to read, remember to record the date, title, author, and minutes on your Reading Log! Then get it signed by an adult at home.
I will be looking for 8 Reading Response Journal entries when we return on the 23rd.

MATH: We will take a math quiz tomorrow. Some students will take a quiz on Multiples of 0 and 1, others will be quizzed on Multiples of 2 and 3. I sent last week’s quiz home on Monday. Students must score 94% or higher in order to move on to the next quiz.
READING: Read to self for at least 30 min./ RRJ/ Reading Log
Reading Logs for 2/4 thru 2/12 will be collected tomorrow! I will send another log home that will be collected when we return from Midwinter Break. The reading logs should be used every time you sit down to read to self.
Also, the Reading Response Journal should include at least one daily entry that is a reflection of what was read. The folder should contain suggestions for different types of entries that can be used with either works of fiction or nonfiction.
SPELLING: 4 assignments should be completed by tomorrow.
Tomorrow afternoon from 2-3:15PM we will have our Valentine’s Day celebration in the team room. Students should bring a decorated box or bag that they can use to take their cards/goodies home.

“Don’t Take It Literally” is due tomorrow. Your illustration should reflect the figurative meaning of the idiom you were assigned. Remember to write what it means (definition), use it in a complete sentence, and color it!
Four completed spelling assignments are due on Friday. Many students already started these assignments last week.
