Can you believe it’s the last day of NOVEMBER???!!!

Today’s Habit Time assembly was a huge success! Students shared lots of knowledge of Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind.

Here are some reminders:

  • Students have successfully put Mrs. Potato Head back together. They elected to have PAJAMA DAY tomorrow. You may wear slippers and a robe, but please have an extra pair of shoes to change into, and don’t forget to wear your winter coat.
  • HW notebooks, Calendars for both HW and Leaders in Learning will be collected tomorrow. New calendars will be sent home, along with a Weather Calendar/Journal that will start 12/1.
  • The Winter Hat/Glove Drive begins on Monday. At the assembly we found out that the class that brings in the most donations will receive a special reward!

See you tomorrow!

Good afternoon!

Reminders for this week:

  • Homework Calendar/Reading Logs will be collected on Friday. So will the Leaders in Learning Chart for November. I won’t be checking the HW notebooks as frequently, but at least once per week.
  • If you’ve got an old sock or a sock with no match, please send it to school tomorrow. We can repurpose those old socks! They make excellent erasers for our new dry erase boards.
  • Thursday afternoon we will have our second Habit Time assembly! Our focus will be on Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind.

Hat and Mitten Drive

This year one of Student Lighthouse’s projects is to give people in need of warm winter clothing, hats and gloves!

All hats and gloves must be new!

Donations start December 4th and end December 15th. We need all hats and gloves before winter break because we want all people to stay warm during the freezing weather.

The class that donates the most gets a special winter surprise!

Start sending in some nice warm winter hats and gloves after our Thanksgiving break!

Thank you – Lola Song and the Student Lighthouse Students

Book Order

Good afternoon!

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable break! Hard to believe it’s now just four weeks until our next one (and my maternity leave).

Just wanted to remind everyone that the Book Order will be placed tomorrow. If you plan to order, please do so online using the code PFRLN or send a check with your flyer order.

I’m looking forward to hearing about everyone’s Thanksgiving/extra long weekend! See you tomorrow!

Good afternoon!

  • PICTURE RETAKES are tomorrow from 10:30-10:45AM.
  • Tomorrow is our 50th Day Celebration. Remember, students need to bring a counting collection of 50 objects (the same object) to school. Collections should be easy to manage and not too difficult to transport. Fiftieth Day attire might mean dressing like a kid from the 1950s, OR an alternative that you’ve thought of. I suggested decorating an old t-shirt. Dress-up is optional.
  • NO SCHOOL Wednesday->Friday this week for Thanksgiving Break.

Many asked for a list of DOLCH (Rainbow) words for kindergarten. Those lists are being sent home today. Please understand that I am not able to meet/check-in with each student every day. A more attainable goal has been to assess sight word recognition about once every 6 days. Let’s not forget that reading them in isolation is not the same as reading them in a good-fit book.

See you tomorrow!

Good evening!

  • Tomorrow is a NO SCHOOL day for kindergarten students.
  • New Book Order went home today. Please return orders (no cash) by 11/27. If ordering online use the code PFRLN.
  • Tuesday is our 50th day celebration. Don’t forget your counting collection. Dress-up is optional. 1950s attire or an alternative idea.

See you Monday! Mrs. Coleman
