A Look at the Week Ahead

MATH: We will be studying area this week. In addition, we will continue to work on Fact Fluency. Our Wildly Important Goal is for 85% of students to be Math Masters in Addition and Subtraction by January 9, 2017.

SCIENCE: We will shift from sound to light later this week. Mrs. Fleming has a cool extension to share with you on Thursday!

SS: Tomorrow we will read about the arrival of the British in Michigan. Also, we will begin to review for the Unit test which will be given on Friday.

READING: Our focus remains Nonfiction text. I’ve got several Scholastic News articles for us to read and analyze. We will continue to work on identifying main idea and supporting details.

WRITING: We will be finishing the Blueprint for the informational essay about The Three Fires and Human/Environment Interaction and using the Chromebooks to type the 5-paragraph assignment.

SPELLING: New words arrive tomorrow!

Hasn’t the snow been beautiful? Yesterday I asked Mr. C if he had started the snowblower in preparation for today’s snowfall. He told me “No” and “Not to worry”. Well, sure enough he went out to remove snow about 2 hours ago and it wouldn’t start! Sounds like someone needs to work on Habit 1: Be Proactive! (But I’ll just keep that to myself). Be safe out there tonight and tomorrow morning!

Regarding the Measurement assignment:

Please round any mixed numbers to the nearest whole number when subtracting to answer the “How much…?” questions.

For example, a measurement of 48 1/4″ would be rounded down to 48″.  We’ve yet to cover adding and subtracting fractions.
