Popcorn Sale

Mrs. Philpott has arranged for the third grade to have a popcorn sale on Friday, February 10. Profits will be put towards the cost of our trip to Lansing.

Please let me know if you are available and interested in helping with the popping and bagging of popcorn. Thank you!

Great afternoon for a walk with my buddy Leo!

I hope your day went smoothly. Your only homework would be to complete any assignments from today that did not get finished. I’ll be collecting your work tomorrow.

No reading log entry or spelling required for today. I’ll return the paper reading logs tomorrow and give the spelling words. You’ll still need to complete 4 spelling activities but you will have until next Friday 1/27. That’s also when we will take the test.

We will have a circle tomorrow afternoon to discuss what you think went really well with the guest teacher(s) and what you think we still need to work on. Looking forward to seeing everyone at lunch tomorrow!!!

This Week

MATH: Before we wrap up this unit, we will have one last lesson on Relating Area and Perimeter. You can expect to see that on Wednesday. Tomorrow you’ll complete a review.

SS: Tomorrow you will work in small groups to complete the assignment How Michigan Fulfills a Purpose of Government (it should be in your SS notebook). After that, there is a lesson in the Michigan Studies textbook that you’ll read.

READING: I’ve got a new Scholastic News magazine for you. The cover story is all about immigrants coming to America. On Wednesday we will look at several short passages with question sets to prepare for the NWEA reading test.

WRITING: You’ll work on a cold write tomorrow. You can probably figure out the theme of this personal narrative if you remember what my favorite holiday is… HINT: It’s coming up! We will resume working on our opinion piece on Wednesday.

SPELLING: New words will be revealed on Wednesday. Test will be next Friday (Jan. 20).

I will be absent all day tomorrow on district-related business. My former student, Dalia, will stop by in the morning to read the morning message to you. Wednesday is a late start day. I will return to school after lunch on Wednesday. -Mrs. Coleman
