SUPER STUDENT POSTER PROJECT!

Mine is still a work in progress, (I need to add photos for my family and my hero). The posters are to be completed at home with the help of family members. Students should do the coloring and as much of the writing as possible. Students will share their posters with our class. Then, they will be used to decorate our hallway.

POSTERS ARE DUE NEXT TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4. This writing assignment will be graded and added as our first assignment in my Gradebook. It is worth 10 points. All sections must be completed, and yes it has to be colored.

Good afternoon!

Today was yet another very busy day! After finishing lunch count, we managed to complete an assignment, talk about the behavior matrix, have a snack, eat lunch, and enjoy recess!

Please be sure to inform your child as to whether he/she has a lunch from home or needs first/second choice from school. Also, if bringing lunch from home, please send a drink. Water bottles are welcome in the classroom. Juice and milk should be enjoyed in the cafeteria.

Tomorrow we will take a look at the books you’ve sent from home and I will share the students’ very first homework assignment. This is a really cool one! It will require help from family members. More info tomorrow!

Finally I am really excited about the Class Dojo app and the fact that as of this afternoon I have 3 families signed up! You’ll find the sheet with instructions on how to sign up in your child’s folder. And speaking of that folder, please be sure to return all required school forms ASAP.

What a busy but WONDERFUL morning it was!

As I sat down to write this blog post, I realized that I forgot something very important during our meeting. During the soft start, we will be using the afternoons to do complete a few short tasks with our new students. This will require you to return to school in the afternoon for a 20 min. conference. The times available this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are:

12:30, 12:50, 1:10, 1:30, 1:50, 2:10, 2:20, and 2:40.

Please email me to let me know when you are available to come in. I’ll confirm whether or not your desired day/time is available. You’ll need to check in at the school office and they will let us know when you arrive. I’ll walk down to pick up your child and return him or her as soon as we’re finished.

Remember to complete the school forms as soon as possible and return to school using the blue NICKY folder. Sorry to give you homework on the first day.

I must apologize as we did not have time for a snack this morning. We will typically have our snacks in the afternoon, but during this week we will have both a morning snack and lunch at school. Our lunch is from 11:00-11:30. We will also have a morning recess before lunch.

Maisie is one month old! She is the love of our lives! She’s still not sure how she feels about our dogs…

Maisie Kay Coleman arrived at 9:59AM. She weighs 7 lbs. 14 oz and is 20 3/4” in length. Mom and Dad Coleman cannot even believe how much happiness she has brought. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Good evening! It’s hard to believe that students will return to school in just a few days… even crazier to think that in less than a week I’ll be a MOM!

First, I want to remind you that a few things will be collected on Monday:

• Leaders in Learning Chart
• Homework Calendar/Reading Log
• Weather Journal

I had hoped to have a long-term substitute teacher lined up before my last day. Unfortunately we were not able to secure anyone with the necessary qualifications. At this time, I can only tell you that Mrs. Waddell is still very confident that a long-term guest teacher will be secured soon. In the meantime, the familiar faces belonging to Mrs. Mardini, Mrs. Faraj, and Mrs. Glover will be pushing-in to work with our class and make sure students are taken care of.

Thank you for understanding. I will of course be checking in to make sure things are in order. I have a hard time giving up control, (for many years as a teacher I had perfect attendance) but this is one instance where I know I need to put first things first. As much as I love all your children, my new role as a mother is the most important thing to me.

I will be sure to update you with any information regarding a guest teacher, as well as photos of our baby girl once she arrives. Thank you for the many gifts and well-wishes. Your thoughts and prayers for a safe delivery and healthy baby are greatly appreciated.

Good afternoon!

• Tomorrow is a LATE START- 9:30AM arrival
• Our visit to the Holiday Shop was a huge success. Thank you to the parents who were able to assist their child and others. Thursday is a make-up day for anyone who forgot to bring money today.
• As we continue to focus on Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw, we have discussed healthy vs. unhealthy snacks, and ways to keep yourself healthy. Today was the first day in FOREVER that we had perfect attendance!

On Friday we will celebrate the holidays with a healthy snack, a game, and a take-home craft!

I’m sorry for any confusion this may cause.  With the snow, there have been some problems getting delivery of our food from our supplier. I was not aware of the changes until it was time to go to lunch today.
