Determining the Size of a Problem

Help teach kids the difference between a large problem, medium problem, and small problem with the below activity.

Some follow up questions:

-After they determine the size of the problem, ask them to discuss an appropriate solution.

-What do you think makes something a big problem?

-What do you think makes something a medium problem?

-What do you think makes something a small problem?

-Talk about a problem you had and determine what the size of the problem was. How did you find a solution for your problem?

Put a B for BIG problem

Put a M for MEDIUM problem 

Put a S for SMALL problem

Also list solutions for each problem

  1. A Fire 
  1. Someone pushes me in line 
  1. I dropped my pencil
  1. Someone is seriously hurt 
  1. I did not get the toy I wanted
  1. I hit someone at recess
  1. I did not use respectful words to my teacher
  1. I accidently hurt my friends feelings
