Homework for the week of November 7

Hello all!

I’m trying to make it a habit of writing the week’s homework assignments on the blog. This way if your child doesn’t write in his or her planner, if they leave early, or if they are absent, you will know what to complete with them.

*Several students have missing work. I sent them home with a new copy to complete and turn in on Wednesday, 11/9.

You can message me on Remind.

You can write your preferred date and time in your child’s planner.

The dates are Thursday, November 10, Wednesday, November 16, and Thursday, November 17. I can meet with you between 3:10 and 6:00.

I will send home time confirmations by Monday, October 31 at the latest.

Social Studies Test

Hello families!

Thursday is our first Social Studies test. The students will take it on the Chromebooks or the desktop computers in the classroom.

I sent home a study guide tonight to start working on. Tonight, students need to complete the questions we did not get to in class. Please bring the study guide back tomorrow. We will go over the rest of the answers as a class.

Please study with your child every night this week.

Because of this test, we will NOT have spelling this week.

Thanks!

Mrs. Kaltz

Front Row & MyOn

Hello families!

Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.

As you can see from the letters I’ve sent home and the excited stories from your children, we have started some technology websites to help with our differentiated learning.

MyOn

Your children have been using MyOn in school for at least one year already. Mrs. Pantaleo and I will be assigning reading stories for the students to complete each week. They can choose to read the stories at home OR at school during Listen to Reading time during Daily 5 rotations. Completing these tasks are important and will factor in to their reading grades.

Front Row

This is the first year your child will be using Front Row. It is a program that I learned about at my previous school and it is proven to help students with their NWEA/MAP goals. We will use it primarily for Math. However, there is an ELA function that students can choose to use at home. They will have time in class to finish these assignments, but they can also work on it at home.

The more they practice, the better they will do. If completing these assignments at home is a problem, please let me know as soon as possible and I will make arrangements to give them extra time in class.

Thank you!

Mrs. Kaltz

Creating Bar Graphs from Surveys

Happy Wednesday! Today, we started a math project where students created their own survey and got to ask the class their question. Tomorrow, they will turn that data into a bar graph with a scale of their choice.

Here are some pictures of the students completing their surveys.

Magnet Experiment

We have been learning about forces: contact and non-contact. Magnetism is a non-contact force. We experimented today to determine how strong their magnet was through barriers of tape. Ask your child about it and what the concluded!
