Science Test: Tuesday, Nov. 29

We will have a science test on our light unit the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. I will send home the study guide, which I also put below. I will also send home the articles and activities that we completed to help with studying.

Light Energy Study Guide

You will need to match the words with the definitions.

  1. Light- a form of energy that you can see
  1. Translucent- a material that allows some light to pass through it.
  2. Opaque- a material that does NOT allow light to pass through it.
  3. Transparent- a material that allows light to pass through it.
  1. Shadow- a dark area on a surface created by an object blocking the path of light.
  1. Reflect- to bounce off a surface.

Facts to know for multiple choice questions

  • Light travels in a straight line.
  • Light can reflect off a surface.
  • Light can come from many sources.
  • The moon is not a light source.
  • If I shine my flashlight on a clear window, the light would pass through the window.
  • An example of a translucent material is a piece of tissue paper.
  • When light waves strike an opaque object, a shadow forms.
