Just a reminder that any homework that is turned in late will lose a one point per day that it is late
Attention Parents and Students:
I have added a new “assignment” to the Gradebook, which allows you to see any behavior issues that might come up. If there any any questions, please feel free to contact me.
This Week
This week, we are taking the NWEA Reading test in Social Studies. This test provides us with valuable information regarding the reading abilities of our students. Since reading is such an integral part of Social Studies, this information is very useful in planning lessons that meet the needs of our students.

Dear Parent or Guardian,
I am very excited to be joining the Smith family this year as your child’s Social Studies teacher and I would like to give you some information about my background.
The decision to enter the teaching profession was one that I made after spending many years in the retail and business management fields and it has been the best decision I have ever made. My experience in the working world outside of Education gives me a unique perspective that helps me to make my lessons more relevant to my students. Since I began teaching 7 years ago, I have worked in a variety of educational settings, gaining experience working with students at both the middle and high school level. In addition to working with students of different ages, I have worked with advanced students as well as those who have struggled with their school work. I also have experience teaching students who are still learning to speak English.
I am certain that we will have a great year as we work together to provide your child with the best education possible and I welcome your participation in their education. Please do not hesitate to email me at RadcliJ@dearbornschools.org or call the school at 313-827-2800.
I look forward to meeting you at the Open House on September 13th.
Regards,
James B. Radcliffe, Ed.S.
