Monday 2/25/19

Happy Monday:

Today your child is bringing home their science study guide.  It is a landforms sort and we also wrote the definition of weathering and erosion as well: students will need to know these for the test.  The test is next Tuesday 3/5/19.  I have also put a power point on google classroom (go to clever, click on google classroom, click on Mrs. Patterson’s class) that students can use to help them study.  It has great pictures and definitions and a “what am I?” game at the end you can use to quiz your child.

Reminder that our math test is on Thursday.  I have reposted the study guide links at the bottom of the blog post.

Homework tonight:

  1. Complete the 2 math worksheets (each page is only one sided) over lessons 17 and 18.
  2. Do a weekly spelling activity

Friday 2-8-19

Happy Friday:

Today your child has a special homework assignment for writing.  We are making a hard cover classroom book this year about penguins! Each child has been working in a small group to learn about a specific type of penguin: Emperor, King, Adele, Little, Gentoo, or Macaroni.  Each child has been assigned one topic to write about their penguin.  What they write will be published in our classroom book so they need to do their best work.  Each child must write a paragraph (3-4 sentence).  They may use the graphic organizer they are bringing home to help them or they may use the articles I posted on google classroom (Go to Clever, Click on Google Classroom, Click on Mrs. Patterson’s Second Grade Class, Click on Informational Penguin Writing (it’s the first link at the top)).  Please do not use any other outside sources.  Students are learning to not plagiarize so their sentences must be in their own words; not copied from the articles.  This assignment is due on MONDAY.

After our books are completed they will be available to purchase if you wish.  You do not have to but some families have bought them in the past 🙂
