Happy Valentines Day!

We had a wonderful day in school today.  The students are bringing home lots of valentines and treats.  Thank you to all of the families that sent in valentines and gifts!  It is very appreciated 🙂

Homework tonight:

1. Do the 4th weekly spelling activity.  All 4 weekly spelling activities are due tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Valentines Day.  Please send in the valentines or candies that your child wants to pass out.  It is not mandatory to participate but we ask if your child brings valentines, please have them bring a valentine for each person.  We have 20 students in class 🙂

I have postponed the 1st grade social studies test to Thursday so we have time to review the concepts in class.  2nd graders will have their test on Friday as planned.

   1. We wrote down our classmate’s names today in our planner-back page.  We will do a valentine exchange Wednesday morning.
4. Remember we also have a social studies test later this week.  If you want to practice again the links for the study guide are on last week’s blogs.  You may do the study guide as often as you like.

Today my second graders learned about the 3 branches of local government.  They need to know the names and job of the 3 branches for their test on Friday.  Here are pictures of my frayer models.  Please make sure your child knows these 3 terms by Friday.

Hello everyone:

Since we had a snow day on Friday I didn’t get a chance to share some information with all of you.

1. We will have our spelling test tomorrow.  I will share the new words for this week with you once the students have taken their spelling test.
2. We will be doing a valentine exchange in class on 2/14/18 for those students who want to participate.  They can be homemade valentines, store bought valentines, or candy if you would rather.  We will make and decorate valentine bags in class for the students to bring home their valentines in.  We have 20 students in class.  I will post the students’ names in class tomorrow so the students can write down their classmate’s names.

Despite having a snow day Friday we will still take our math and social studies tests this week.  Make sure your child practices their math study guide they brought home last week AND the online social studies study guide.

Second Graders: We will be having a social studies test next Friday on 2/16/18.  I am posting the study guides early so that the students will have plenty of time to practice.  There are some things on the study guide we haven’t learned yet but we will cover these next week.  Please practice everyday so you can do your very best.

Reminder: Late start tomorrow. School starts at 9:30.  Our Celebrating Success Assembly is at 2:15.  Ask your child if they are receiving a certificate.  All parents are welcome 🙂

Important Information:

1. Report cards came home today.  Please sign the envelope and return it to school tomorrow-you may keep the report card.  I must have all of the envelopes signed and returned.
2. Wednesday is late start- please come to school at 9:30.
3. Wednesday afternoon is Our Steps to Success Celebration Assembly.  We begin right at 2:15 in the gymnasium.  If your child is going to get a certificate we would love for you to attend.  I told all of the students today who would receive a certificate.  The categories of certificates are Honor Roll, Most Improved, Bucket Filler, math masters, mathematicians, and Attendance.

Homework this weekend:

1. Complete the math worksheet- due Monday
   1. 1st graders- missing addends
   2. 2nd graders- story problems
2. Read for 20 minutes a day
3. Complete a weekly spelling activity
