Happy Thursday:

*Tonight is Math Night at Oakman School from 5:00-6:00 in the cafeteria.  It is free to attend, and there will be fun math game stations for families to play.  A parent must stay with their child for the duration of the event.  If you find a game your family enjoys, there is the opportunity to purchase that game to take home at the end of the event.  I hope to see you there 🙂

Today we had a great day at school.  We learned about natural, human, and capital resources during social studies and Daily 5, and planted our vegetable seeds during science.  We are also working on estimating and finding the exact measurement of items for math.

Homework:

1. Finish your Moby Max measurement assignment.  It is due tomorrow.  (Some students completed this earlier this week and therefore are done with their math homework 🙂 )
2. Spelling test tomorrow- practice your words.
3. Do your social studies study guide.  The test is on Monday.

Tomorrow is our fieldtrip to the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center.  We will leave around 9:00 AM and return in time for the Brainstormers Assembly at 2:00.  Please make sure your child has a packed lunch for tomorrow with their name on it.

Welcome back! It is wonderful seeing everyone after a long break 🙂

Wednesday is our field trip to the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center.  All the students will need to bring a packed lunch.  If you have not turned in your field trip forms I must have them and the $2.00 tomorrow.

I am still in need of chaperones for the field trips.  Right now I have one parent chaperone for this Wednesday and ZERO chaperones for Greenfield Village next week.  If you are able to attend please let me know as soon as possible.  Thank you very much.

1. Practice your measurement homework on MobyMax math.  I have sent everyone an ONLINE HOMEWORK ACTIVITY.
2. Complete a weekly spelling activity.
3. Read for 15 minutes.

Homework over the break:

1. Complete the math sheet I sent home for review.  1st graders- telling time.  2nd graders- find the missing addend.
2. Do your science MYON project I sent you on either plants (2nd grade) or animals and plants (1st grade).  I don’t expect you to do all of it but I do expect you to do around 1/2 of it.  The project is due at the end of April so don’t wait until the last minute.
3. Complete your weekly spelling activities.

Congratulations to all those who received recognition at the Celebration assembly today. Everyone has been working so hard this year and it’s wonderful to see that hard work and effort celebrated.

Homework for tonight:

1. Study for your math test tomorrow. The study guide went home last week.

2. Complete a weekly spelling activity.

3. Remember that reading logs MUST be turned in tomorrow. No exceptions.

*Please remember to sign the field trip forms that came home today. We have two exciting field trips coming up next month. The total cost for both field trip is only $2.00.  I need parents that are willing to be chaperones. I have one parent committed to the field trip to Greenfield village but am in need of more chaperones for both field trips. If you are able to come as a chaperone please make a note on your child’s permission slip. Thank you for your help in making field trips a success.

3. Practice math study guide.  The test is on Wednesday.

Our Success assembly tomorrow is from 2:20-3:15 in the gym. If you are an Honor roll, Mathematician, Most Improved, or bucket filler you will receive a certificate or bracelet.  Math masters will be asked to stand and will receive applause but they will not receive a certificate.

Homework over the weekend:

1. Practice your math study guide that went home.  We will have a math test on Wednesday 3/28/18.  We want to have our unit completed before the spring break 🙂

Monday is BINGO FOR BOOKS.  This is a free family event that is after school on Monday from 4:15-5:15 in the gym.  Snacks will be sold in the cafeteria for those who wish to purchase.  Bingo for Books is a fun Bingo event where the winners get new books to take home and keep.  I hope to see all of you there 🙂

Thank you to all of the parents who came to parent teacher conferences.  If you had your child’s report card sent home in the yellow envelope, please sign the front of the envelope and return the envelope tomorrow.  You may keep the report card at home, I just ask that you return the signed envelope so that I know a parent saw the child’s report card.

Homework this evening:

1. Practice for the math-a-thon tomorrow.  If you go to dearbornschools.org, click on student resources and then select I-LEARN at the top of the webpage.  Students sign in with their 2-0-0 number and their password, then select Oakman Math-a-thon at the top.  They may practice the addition and subtraction practice test as many times as they want.  This is set up the same way as the math-a-thon tomorrow.
