Happy Monday:
This week we are finishing up our math units in both 1st and 2nd grade. 1st graders have their math test TOMORROW, 2nd graders have their test on Wednesday. Make sure you are studying the material and practicing. Many students have expressed their desire to be on the honor roll this year. Remember, you must have all 1’s and 2’s to be on the honor roll. Make sure you’re practicing and trying your best.
Homework:
- Practice the math study guide for the test this week (see test dates above)
- Do my social studies project if I haven’t already turned it in- they are due on Wednesday 12/6/17
- Read for 20 minutes
- Complete a weekly spelling activity
Scholastic book order forms are due by Friday 12/8/17 if you are interested in ordering.
Friday 12/1/17
Homework this weekend:
- Practice the math study guide coming home. The first graders have their test on Tuesday, the 2nd graders have their test on Wednesday.
- Read for 20 minutes every day. I have sent home the reading calendar that will be used to track your child’s reading minutes from paper books (Not Myon). This applies to reading bag books, library books, home books, etc. You write the number of minutes your child read AND initial it for every day that your child reads. This is to ensure honesty and accuracy. Do not add MYON minutes to the calendar because the computer tracks them and I add those separately. It will mess up the system if they are counted twice. These minutes will count towards our monthly ticket drawings.
- Do a weekly spelling activity.
- The social studies projects for both 1st and 2nd graders are due on Wednesday. Some students have already finished and turned in their projects. Great job taking initiative 🙂
*Many students expressed interest in the book orders last month so I sent home the Scholastic Holiday book order for this month. If you choose to order, money and forms are due by Friday 12/8/17.
Spelling words for 12/8/17:

Today we had our November ticket drawing. Congrats to those students whose name was drawn. Our next drawing is on December 22nd. You can either turn in or save your tickets every month.
Homework tonight:
First graders and second graders have social studies projects that are due next Wednesday. The 1st graders are making books about things they do with their families. The second graders are creating maps of their bedrooms, which include a map key and a compass rose. Read the instructions carefully. It is worth 20 points (a normal assignment is worth 10 points) so make sure you have it completed and turned in by 12/6/17. You may turn it in early if you wish.
Have a great night 🙂
