Summer event at Oakman

I want to thank everyone for the kind wishes that were sent my way this year when I went on maternity leave.  I loved being your child’s teacher and am glad to hear that the end of the year went smoothly.  I hope everyone has a wonderful summer break and I look forward to seeing you in the fall 🙂

Here is some information regarding an event happening at Oakman tomorrow.

Please join Oakman teachers on Wednesday, June 19 from 9:30 – 11:30am at Oakman Elementary School.

This will be the kickoff to a Summer Reading Fun opportunity.

Each week a different Dearborn school will host reading activities.

Friday 4/12/19

  1. We have a field trip to Greenfield Village on Wednesday- you need to bring a packed lunch

We have a field trip to the Dearborn historical museum in the morning on Thursday.  We will be back in time to eat lunch at school.  Thursday is also spring picture day (if you need a new picture form you can pick it up in the office) AND the 2nd grade spring concert.  All parents are invited to attend the concert.  It starts at 2:00. Hope to see you there 🙂

 

Wednesday 4-10-19

Happy Wednesday!

We had a wonderful time at our field trip today to the Botanical Gardens.  Thank you to the parents who were able to chaperone 🙂

Homework for tonight:

  1. Complete the math homework- you only need to do problems 1 (parts a-e) and 3.  You do not have to do problems 2 and 4 unless you want to.
  2. All 4 weekly spelling activities are due tomorrow.  Make sure you have them in your backpack.

Tuesday 4-9-19

Happy Tuesday:

We have a field trip tomorrow to the botanical gardens at U of M.  We will be outside for a large portion of the trip so dress warm.  You must have a coat and closed toed shoes (gym shoes) because we will be walking.  Also make sure you have a packed lunch.

Monday 4-8-19

Welcome back!

It was so nice seeing everyone back at school today. This Wednesday we have our first field trip of 3 that we have in the next few weeks. If you have not filled out the field trip permission slips they MUST be returned tomorrow along with the $10. This money covers the cost of all 3 field trips.  I also am in need of parent chaperones. If you are able to chaperone for any of the field trips- this Wednesday (all day), next Wednesday (all day), or next Thursday (AM only) please let me know by either an email, blog comment, or note sent to school with your child.

Homework tonight:

1. Go on study island math for 15 minutes

2. Read

3. Complete a weekly spelling activity (if you didn’t do them all over break)

Friday 3-29-19

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe spring break. Enjoy this time with your families 🙂

Over the break I am asking that every student reads 15 minutes a day.  The students were given new reading books to bring home over break.

Homework:

  1. Read 15 minutes every day
  2. Go on study island math or zearn at least 3 times over break for 20 minutes.
  3. Fill out the 3 field trip forms and put them in your back pack with the $10.00 for Monday

I am in need of parent chaperones for the field trip in April; especially for Wednesday April 10th- we don’t have any chaperones for this field trip.  Please let me know if you are willing and able to chaperone.  Thank you very much.

Thursday 3-28-19

Happy Thursday:

Tomorrow is the end of March is reading month.  Thank you for all of your participation. Today the students are bringing home 3 field trip permission slips.  Please send these back tomorrow signed, even if you are not able to send in the money until after spring break.  Also, if you are able to be a chaperone on a field trip, please write that you can attend on your child’s permission slip.  Thank you 🙂

  1. Math worksheet
  2. Look over your spelling words- spelling test tomorrow

Lunch choices for tomorrow:

Wednesday 3-27-19

Happy Wednesday:

Today the students took their math test.  These test will come home graded on Friday.

Homework for tonight:

  1. Read- all reading logs are due tomorrow for this week.  Ms. McMahon needs to collect them for the whole school so make sure you bring it.  Also, if you have your book write ups (notecards or a piece of paper that lists your name, the book you read, and 3 sentences about your book) make sure you bring them.  Some of you have already turned in all 5 but many haven’t.  If you turn in 5 by tomorrow you get a special March is reading month prize 🙂
  2. Do a spelling activity- all 4 are due tomorrow

We have several field trips coming up in April after spring break.  The cost of all of the field trips combined is $10.00.  If you want to bring in $10 to cover all of the field trips in advance you may.  I will mark down that they are all paid in full.  I will post the dates of the field trips tomorrow and start sending home the permission slips.  I am also going to need parent chaperones.  If you are able to attend please write a note on the field trip slip or send me a comment or email.

Today the students are bringing home the scores for the social studies test we took on Friday.  I have included the short answer responses for you to see, and I wrote the overall total score your child got on the top of the page.  This includes the computer portion of the test that the students took in class and the short answer responses combined.
