School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”
If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools. Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years. Read the rest of this entry »

This is a friendly reminder that we have another packing for Blessings in a Backpack this coming Thursday, October 27th at Christ Episcopal Church at 4:00 p.m.
There are a variety of dates throughout the school year that are still available to volunteer. Please let me know if you would like to help with the packing of the bags.
Thank you for your commitment to this wonderful program!
Hello!
Hello, All!
The Leadership Environment Action Team is undertaking a revamp of student broadcast this year. The action team is requesting parent volunteers to contribute to their team. They are especially in need of tech savvy family members to help out. If parents work during school hours, they can still contribute in a consult role.
Thank you!
Dear Parents,
If you are an AOL email user, please be aware that you may not receive email notifications due to AOL policies. We are working to resolve this issue with AOL.
Thank you for your patience while we work with AOL to make sure you get classroom notifications from your teacher.
Sincerely,
Technology Department
Good Afternoon!
I hope everyone is having a smooth transition to the 2016-2017 school year. I would like to offer my social work services and support to any families or students that may need my help as we begin a new school year. Please free to email me directly at johnstk@dearbornschools.org or call 313-827-7292.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for families and parents throughout the school year, including Blessings in a Backpack!
Blessings in a Backpack provides food for elementary school children across America who may otherwise have little or no food to eat on the weekends during the school year. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program. There are currently five Dearborn Public elementary schools participating in this program – including Whitmore-Bolles Elementary.
The program could not be successful without the help of volunteers. One great way to volunteer is to help us pack the backpacks! Below are the dates that we need families to volunteer in order to pack the bags after school. All packing occurs at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, located at Cherry Hill and Military.
Happy Friday!
We completed our final packing of the school year for Blessings in a Backpack this past Wednesday, May 4th. Special thanks to Mrs. Philpott, Mr. Driscoll, Ms. Tyler, Mrs. Korpi, Mrs. Hutsell, Mrs. Song, Matthew Hutsell, Xavier Song, and Lola Song who served as our crew for the last packing.
Blessings in a Backpack was a wonderful experience this school year and it was a pleasure being able to serve the Whitmore-Bolles and surrounding community.
Enjoy your weekend,
Ms. Johnston
