Happy Holidays

First I want to start off by saying from my family to yours I hope that your holiday season is warm, bright, and relaxing! As we enter this final week before break I know that sugar plums are dancing in all of our heads……as well as all the holiday to-do lists! (at least for us adults, am I right?) I hope that the next two weeks all my students get some much needed recharging time, and are able to spend time with their families.

As exciting as the upcoming holidays are, it is also time to begin wrapping up the first semester! Forensic students AND chemistry students that are missing ANY test or quiz MUST have them made up THIS WEEK (by 12/20) The options to take any missing test/quiz are before school Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday (6:30-7:15), after school Wednesday (2:20-3:00) or during class Friday 12/20. Any missing test or quiz (aside from those given the week of 12/16) at that point will remain a zero in the gradebook. Students should be very aware of this deadline as I have been reminding them daily for the past several weeks. One other reminder is to make sure that over the break you do spend some time getting prepared for finals! All students will receive a finals study guide before going out to break. Thanks everyone! Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Second Card Marking Check In

Thank you so much to all the parents that came to conferences Monday! I am looking forward to meeting more tomorrow, October 16 from 4-7.

If you are here on my blog to check out my calendar please scroll allllll the way to the bottom, there you will see my google calendar that I use for both my forensics and chemistry classes.

We have made it to the second card marking of the year, on one hand the time has flown by and on the other, I know the kids (and many of us teachers!) are dragging as we march towards Thanksgiving break. Please continue to work hard and stay up to date with your daily studying and weekly packets!

Happy Spring!

Happy first day of spring!

Here in the busy world of pioneer chemistry we continue to work hard to expand our thinking! We are currently working with the mole and stoichiometry. We have been able to do a lot of hands on activities lately which means more engagement and more of an opportunity for summative points. Make sure you are completing lab assignments one time and including them in your weekly packets. The feedback on packets has been overwhelmingly positive. While I continue to not accept late work remember all the work given throughout the week is not collected until the following Monday, no one wants to spend their weekends catching up on homework but its nice to have the option when needed. Many students are not completing their homework nightly, please continue to work hard in order to succeed!

There will be a quiz over mole conversions and percent comp (the first half of ch 10) this Friday. Be there or be square. We will be testing on the entirety of chapter 10 Next friday.
