Activities

I decided that I will post different activity ideas during this unexpected break.

Henry Ford Estates has many trails and lawns to wander through and explore. There is no cost to enter the grounds and a nice parking spot off the southbound side of Evergreen just north of Michigan Ave.

Today my kids and I had a great time talking about animals, flowers that are starting to bloom, birds, Henry Ford, mole tunnels, nests, etc.

It is nice to walk near the house and then head north towards the lake in the back which has trails that go around it.

Thanks for reading this! Hope your staying active and having fun.

Unexpected Break

Due to the pandemic there will be no school till April 13. Please look to the Dearborn Public Schools website for any official information.

Please keep your child active!

Kids love to be outside running, riding bikes, playing catch, kicking a ball back and forth, keeping a ball or balloon in the air, walking, blowing bubbles, pretending to be somewhere or somebody else, and anything else you can think of. Also, simple things like just taking a walk to run an errand or walking just to spend quality time together.

If stuck inside you can still get your kids moving safely, Going up and down the stairs for 5 minutes or dancing to music will get your heart going. You can find a yoga or kids exercise video on You Tube, Net Flix or any other way to watch t.v. Old fashioned push ups, sit ups, and jumping jacks are great as well as stretching. Playing with balloons will keep things from getting broken if you have a bit of room. Also, balancing can be fun, have your child do one foot, then the other, then opposite hand and foot, etc. Balancing an item on a body part and walking around is nice and safe and will keep your child off the screen time.

Please be creative to keep your child moving and healthy. They may fight you but your child will benefit much more from quality time with you rather then any kind of screen time!

Welcome Back

I am very excited and proud to be back as Howe’s Physical Education Teacher! Once again this year we will be focusing on fitness, sports, games, skills, and team work! Please be sure your child is prepared for the days they have physical education. This means wearing shoes and light clothing. (No air condition in gym)

The Cipriano Run for 4th and 5th graders will be taking place on October 11 at Ford Field starting at 2 PM. More information will be sent home if your child chooses to participate.

Update

The 2018 School year is well underway.
In your child’s physical education class we have working hard on team work activities. We have also been working on our soccer skills.
Please be sure that your child has proper shoes on physical education days.

Welcome Back!

Hope everyone had a great, active summer. I know I did.
The Olympics provided a great opportunity to show many sports to our children. Now it is time to get back into our routine and get back to learning.

Thanks to all who wished me well with my new child. Savior is doing great. Here is one of my favorite pictures from a great road trip we took.

HOWE Chess Team 2016

chess 2016 3chess 2016 2chess 2016

The Chess team did a great job this year finishing 3rd in the city championships. We won our pool of four teams to make it to the championships. We lost a very close match to the eventual city champs Snow School in the Semi-finals. After that we defeated Becker to secure 3rd place in the tournament.

Great job Cougars!!

Adapted Swimming

Many of our students with disabilities from the entire district will have the opportunity to go swimming at different times at the new HYPE facility in Wayne. HYPE has been very generous and accommodating to our students and their unique needs.

Thank you to HYPE.
