Take your time in class re reading, discussing , and defining unfamiliar words. Be sure that you answered all of the questions from each of the documents.
Use the Historical Thinking Chart for each document. Answer the questions from each category for each document ( Sourcing, Contextualization, Corroboration, and Close Reading) .

Contextualization
• When and where was the document
created?
• What was different then? What was
the same?
• How might the circumstances in
which the document was created
affect its content?
Corroboration
• What do other documents say?
• Do the documents agree? If not,
why?
• What are other possible
documents?
• What documents are most reliable?
Close Reading
• What claims does the author make?
• What evidence does the author use?
• What language (words, phrases,
images, symbols) does the author
use to persuade the document’s
audience?
• How does the document’s language
indicate the author’s perspective?
Complete the graphic organizer which is based off of the documents ( this was last Friday’s homework)
Answer the questions ( Graphic Organizer):
Was the Reign of Terror Justified ?
Did the French Government have good reason to conduct a violent campaign against those who they believed were threatening the goals of the French Revolution?
Gather evidence for both potential responses ( Yes and No) to this question but be prepared to formulate a strong response with evidence from the documents
