You are going to create a multi-flow map for Act III of Julius Caesar. Remember, a multi-flow map shows cause and effect. I have attached a sample of what I want your homework to look like. In, Act III of a Shakespearean Tragedy, things go from bad to worse, but the bad thing causes the worse thing to happen (look at the example, this will make sense, I swear.). Be specific and precise, NO WORD VOMITING!
Ms. Jamieson, so the homework is like a double bubble with squares(double square)?
Alaa,
Not exactly. A double bubble compares and contrasts two different things. A multi flow shows cause and effect of an event, but because Shakespearean Tragedies are structured a little differently, there are 2 main events, rather than one. So if you want to think of it as two different events (the bad and the worse) you can, but the effects of the bad should match the causes of the worse. God I hope that makes sense…
Ms J
Ms.Jamieson, so let me just get this straight, for the Multi-flow map we write the causes of one bad event in the story, then the effects of that bad event which are also the cause of the worst event and then the effects of that worst event? Right?
Aya,
Yes??????????
But isn’t just any old bad event, it is THE bad event in the climax (act III).
Ms J
Okay, thank you 🙂
Ms Jamieson,
Do you want the guiding question to be in the main idea box?
Ali,
Huh? The map question should go inside the frame of reference, if that’s what you’re asking?
Ms J
Ms. J,
Uhhh it was more kind of like what goes in the box between the causes and effects, or is that for us to decide?
Ali,
Ohhhhhh, I get it. In the first box you should identify the bad event, and the second box you should identify the worse event. There is a definite correct answer for these 2 boxes. The causes and effects for each go on the appropriate side.
Ms J
Ms. J,
Alright, thanks.
You said we can’t have 3 squares, but I’m having trouble finding a 4th square, so should i erase one if i can’t find a 4th?
Mohamad,
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo, don’t ever do that! The causes can come from previous acts in the play, as can the effects (although we won’t start act IV until tomorrow).
Ms J
Ok
