Here is an outline of today’s assignments (Thursday, May 28th):
● SPELLING: ‘-am’ word pattern (bam, dam, ham, jam, Pam, Sam, clam, slam, etc.). Write your spelling words 2 times – once in pencil, and again in pen. Underline the phonics pattern in each word. / Phonics video, https://safeYouTube.net/w/iClC
● READING: Listen to the story, “Hello Ocean,” https://youtu.be/NMbN3INUqyg
Discuss: What words does the author use to describe how the ocean SMELLS and TASTES? Do the illustrations in the story match the words she chose? (Figurative Language)
⭐️ Practice your reading bag books + sight words 📖
● WRITING: Reread pg. 1 of your “Beach Day” story. Make sure your pictures match your words and make corrections, as needed. Turn to pg. 2 of your paper book.
On pg. 2, draw pictures of things you would want to SMELL and TASTE on your perfect day at the beach (refer back to your 5 senses chart if you need inspiration!). After drawing, use your illustrations to help guide you in writing the next part of your “Beach Day” story. Use sentences to describe what else is happening at the beach. Don’t forget to add speech bubbles if you want to tie in the sense of sound, too!
● MATH: Lesson 17 (Module 5). Watch the video, https://safeYouTube.net/w/JbtC. Complete the Problem Set (p. 132, 133 – see attached PDF) and Homework (p. 241, 243, 244).
● SCIENCE: Show what you know about plants and flowers! First, listen to the story, “The Tiny Seed,” https://safeYouTube.net/w/DqyH. Next, retell what happens in the beginning, middle and end of the story to someone at home. Don’t forget to include what the seed needs and how it grows in your retelling! If you’re feeling like a challenge, have mom/dad record a video of you retelling the story + send it to your teacher!
● SOCIAL STUDIES: None.
