This week will be our first week of full days everyday. This is going to be a challenging week for your child. Please remember that they are going to come home exhausted, grumpy, yet full of energy because we are learning how to stick to routines and follow directions all day.
Your homework: Talk to your child. Turn off the television and put away the cell phones during dinner. Ask how their day was. Ask about their new friends. Ask a if they are having fun, if they are bored, if they are having any problems. Dinner time is the perfect time to really get to know your child and a time for them to let out some steam!
Strictly enforce routines at home this week. Bedtimes should be the same time every day. This will make life so much easier for you and your child. 10- 13 hours a night is recommended at this age. So if they are in bed at 8:00 p.m., getting up at 7:00 a.m. should not be a problem. Take televisions, computers, I-pads, phones or other mobile devices out of their bedrooms. Limit time played on these devices each day now.
We want to have a great year in Kindergarten. Having strict routines and getting rid of things that are easily avoidable will make your child’s transition to Kindergarten go very smoothly. I am on your team mom and dad. Please let me know of anything that is on your mind about your child and their progress this year!
