What We Do

An Instructional Coach collaborates to co-teach best practices of literacy instruction with teachers in classrooms in whole group and small group settings. The mission of the Dearborn Public School Instructional Coach Model is:

To increase student achievement through utilizing best practices in partnership coaching and co-teaching with classroom teachers.

Goals:

  1. To co-teach with classroom teachers during classroom literacy instruction.
  2. To co-teach small group instruction with the lowest 30% of students.
  3. To collaborate with the leadership team to facilitate professional learning.

Instructional Coaching is an embedded professional learning activity for district teachers.  Teachers volunteer to partner with the Instructional Coach on an element of instructional practice of their choice.
