Wishing you all a restful break! You should not have any homework if you completed the “Prometheus” portion of the chart. I graded 1st, 3rd, and 4th hours but will look over 5th and 6th hours when we return, on Monday. It is worth 2 summative points so make sure it is complete and accurate.
Please read yesterday’s post about the retake tomorrow.
5th and 6th hours only – because you won’t have a full hour tomorrow, you need to finish reading “Prometheus”, highlight and annotate. Finish the column for “Prometheus” only. You should be able to find support for all the 6 elements but I am only requiring that you find textual support for 5 elements.
No IXL this week and next week
Please note that all grades are updated. Students need to take a good look at those and see where they are at this time. They should feel free to talk to me about what the grade reflects and not the points themselves. I am more than willing to discuss what it takes to improve work ethic and quality of work.
We are moving into our first Mythology (Prometheus) and completing the elements chart. This will lead us into planning as we are thinking of the end in mind – AN ESSAY! Students have already seen the prompt and so we can plan and think accordingly.
“It’s Greek to Me” Quiz retake – Retake is during lunch on Friday. You must bring a bagged lunch with you. The set up is on a paper, you will be given the 12 phrases/Characters and you will have to provide mythological reference and current meaning. You will need every minute so make sure you are here with a bagged lunch early. You cannot extend the quiz into 5th hour so know your information. The highest grade you can earn is 10/12 and the lower score holds.
H.W. Root word quiz #3 is tomorrow
No IXL this week or during break

Continued working on “It’s Greek to Me” Project in class. We will begin presentations tomorrow. Make sure you have your rubrics with you so that I can fill it out while you are presenting. Make sure you complete all the requirements as indicated on the rubric. There will be an additional category for speaking, for listening, and points for information will follow a 6,4,2 and not a 3,2,1. In total, the project is worth 21 Summative points.
Root Words Quiz #2 is on Friday, IXL (J) is due on Sunday night
Worked on Bell Work #15 – great discussion from all classes! A job well done when you can think at such a deep level. Avoid “I don’t know” and “It doesn’t make sense” and recall how we work through the most difficult of quotes. YOU GOT THIS!
Continued to work on “It’s Greek to me”.
Reminder that tomorrow time will be designated to work on the poster. Class time should be sufficient; however, if you are not utilizing class time as effectively as you can, you will need to take work home to complete for Thursday’s presentation.
Note that Roots Word Quiz #2 is on Friday. The worksheet says Feb 21. Please disregard that date as instructed in class. The quiz is this Friday.
Continue working on IXL (J) due Sunday night.

Due to a family emergency I have not been able to be there these past two days. My plan is to be there tomorrow if all goes well.
You should have worked through skill F and H when the sub was there. Based on what a few students communicated with me, you may not have been able to finish skill H today. You can have until Sunday night to finish both up.
You should have SSR Reflection #23 done from today’s class & taken the notes on elements of a myths.
Changed quiz date: root words quiz #1 will be rescheduled for Monday as a result of the PBIS celebration as I won’t get to see see two of my hours. Plan on being prepared to take the quiz on Monday.
