April 10, 2018 update

We finished analyzing the excerpt from Beouwulf in class today paying special attention to rephrasing and understanding the qualities of a hero that are depicted.  Make sure you know this well enough as you will have a short assessment tomorrow during class.  Bring the poem with you and review the question stems from the bell work/worksheet we did in class today.

March 26, 2019

Exam over Mythology/Legends is scheduled for Thursday.  Make sure you cover all the readings from this unit.

Essays were collected today.  No late essays will be accepted.

March 21, 2019 VERY IMPORTANT Update

Final draft of your Mythology Essay is due tomorrow, Friday, March 22,  at the beginning of the hour.  It must be printed and ready to submit with no delay.  Late essays will not be accepted.

Root quiz #6 is also tomorrow.  Be ready!

The questions to be completed are:

#6 Interpret Theme:  Legends communicate their themes not only through the actions of the heroes and the consequences the heroes face, but also through the actions of minor characters.  Identify the qualities that Kay represents.  Then tell whether Kay’s behavior pays off in the end.  What message about life are readers supposed to learn from Kay’s example?

#7  Evaluate Legend:  The story of Arthur has captivated people for generations.  What explanation do you have for this?  Tell whether you think the legend deserves such wide popularity, and defend your opinion with concrete details from the story.

March 19, 2019 Update

(3rd, 4th, and 6th hour) Rough Draft was checked in today during class along with the outline.  If your child did not have the outline or the rough draft it has been indicated in the grade book.

(1st hour)  Rough draft will be check in tomorrow.

Final drafts are due on Friday and will be collected as soon as kids walk through the door.  The essay must be printed before coming to class.  I will collect the rubric, the outline and the final draft.

There will be unit exam next week (tentatively on Thursday)  over our Mythology/Legend Unit.

 

March 18, 2019 Update

H.W.  Your rough draft is due at the beginning of the hour tomorrow, Tuesday,  March 19, 2019.  Make sure you have a way to share it through Google Doc or in Printed form.

Root words will be checked in tomorrow, along with your outline, and your rough draft – be ready to show me all.

The Final Draft of the essay must be turned in at the beginning of the hour on Friday, March 22, printed and ready to submit when you walk through the door.  No Late Essay will be accepted.  Note that no additional class time will be given on Wednesday/Thursday to work on your essay.  Tomorrow will be last day we work on it in class.
