REMINDER: parent teacher conferences are next week. Please encourage your parents to come in and feel free to join your parents. Times are as follows:
Monday: 4-7 p.m.
Wednesday: 3:30-6:30 p.m.
You should have completed the SAT 9 worksheet in class today as well as finished reading the story about Malala. I hope you feel inspired by her story. Did you notice in the article the mention of November 10th being Malala Day. That is tomorrow! Do you believe you can change the world as this human has? What can you do to contribute? Think of her story and that of the young lady who went to Napal and changed the lives of 200 orphans.
If you didn’t finish the SAT 9 worksheet, make sure to do so for Monday so that you are prepared to contribute to the discussion.
Please note that in writing your responses on NewsELA, you must respond to the prompt with: claim, evidence, elaboration. Make sure you are answering the prompt thoroughly. Unless the prompt is asking you for personal feedback, you should not use I, me, you, we (first and second person point of view). In addition, you must abide by the conventions: capitalize the first word of every sentence, use correct spelling, use the correct version of the word, and use punctuation where needed. You must also cite your textual evidence correctly: (Bowen).
Some mistakes we have covered in class, yet I am finding them in your writing:
Their vs. There
Their= possessive/belonging to
There = in time and space – over there
Then vs. Than
Then = next, after, second
Than = comparison as in more than, less than
